The axles with an earlier G series trans...or the whole thing trans and axles off the KIA? Ignore the cable vs. hyro issue for this question of course.
I do agree, when I was stabbing at my rio for its brakes it did seem that the way the engine and trans were put in were much simpler than mazdas and festivas somehow.Last edited by getnpsi; 07-19-2011, 01:21 PM.1993 GL 5 speed

This is interesting. Something for the guys thinking of using the "stronger" axles for turbo apps. I worked with a guy who has a Rio manual trans. He thinks he's launching every time he pulls out of anywhere. I don't know how common it is, but he was stranded one day because all the splines came off the inner end of the axle when he launched out of a stop light.
Just something to think about. Again, don't know how common that is.Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

Also engine/trans alignment may be coming into play. Either the geometry is right or it isn't. Cv's and the whole front end 'give a lot of give' but I can see something that is off making stress that a oem install would never see, even tho it doesn't have the extra power of a swapped engine or boost. Again this is insight from the other vehicle i drive. The kids breaking axles over and over discover if they do the how-to on realigning their powertrain the issues go away, and they can go back being aggressive as long as there is little to no wheel hop.
I stripped the splines on my dodge on the passenger side. I have never broken an axle (yet). I never shock launch the car but I do power out of turns and things. That is probably what did that one in, and it had 85k miles on it.Last edited by getnpsi; 07-19-2011, 02:51 PM.1993 GL 5 speed

The KIA trans is a cable trans I'm not positive of the year gap thinking it was only the 01 02 years .. The axles from that car will fit and work fine with the xr2 g trans in a festiva . They are the same length and spine count . I have one of each series ( KIA g and xr2 g ) and they work fine .New build on the way .

The Oldest sephias imported here had the BP's. The ones you never see around. Once in a while i see one pop up for sale out here on craiglist.
The first generation Kia Sephia was loosely based on the Mazda Familia (BG). Engines were a 1.5-liter inline-four rated at 59 kilowatts (79 hp), a 78-kilowatt (105 hp) 1.6-liter, and a 91-kilowatt (122 hp) 1.8-liter from 1994. The car was presented in September 1992 to replace the aging Capital, which was rapidly losing market share. The Sephia proved quite successful, selling over 100,000 in its first full year in the home market (1993).[1]
In the United States, sales began in 1993 for model year 1994. This was the first Kia to be exported to the US. An update came in the 1995 model year when grilles and taillights were restyled and all US-market Sephias except California-market RS/LS models got upgraded to the new 1.8-liter DOHC four-cylinder BP engine as used in the Mazda Familia (BG).1993 GL 5 speed

Could we get some pics on the mounting job you did with the KIA g series shade? I was planning on a f series trans just cuz of the intermediate shaft, but if this works right... Would you still have to clearance the firewall? I've heard the f series trans with a bp makes clearing the firewall not necessary.89 L, hopefully returning from the dead soon with a little more power...

It actually takes an f series clutch and flywheel and g series axles . Way back in the beginning I was told it was a g series bit if anything its a heavy f series . Ck zooms post he kinda nails it down to being an f .New build on the way .
