  • Focus axle info

The down & dirty- Been fantasizing a Ztec motor/trans in a Festy/Aspire. We know that Kia 02 Rio axles will fit a Festy. And they should actually fit a Aspire even better.
The Foucus use a 26 inner splined axle.I would like to use the Focus G series tranny. So my question is this. Will the Rio axle seal area fit the Ford tranny seal? Anyone know or have an educated guess? Maybe someone who works at a parts store has access to more axle spec info than me. (TominMo,maybe)
One more question. Will the EGT Ball joint stud fit into an Aspire knuckle? Meaning, is the taper & length of the stud the same? If not can we machine the knuckle to accept the EGT Ball joint?
PS I had answered someone's IM a month ago.He was selling his EGT knuckles/hubs/control arms & ball joints. I told him to send me an invoice with shipping & I pay it.Contacted him again and still nothing. It would have been nice to have these for doing Chinese Blue Prints. But I guess he is busy
    Any help would be cool,Thanks-

The focus has a G series tranny?? That's new to me, if so then it should work

    1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Ahhh yes thats right so for a donor car I would need the Zx2. Its coming back to me now. The Kia axles should seal fine unless there was some change made to the seal for the escort. What about the ball joint question. I know I read somewhere on the protoge forum. Were someone made an awd. And he "Reamed" the knuckle to accept an EGT ball joint.Or so I thought....

For the ZX2 drivetrain, why not just use the Capri XR2 axle set? It'll work

So this thread is not about focus axles at all. We're talking about escort stuff right?

So wait....the escort zx2 transmissions are.....I think we need to start posting pxicture proof, there's too much internet lore already.... I might be looking for a transmission for my BP if this KIA one doesn't work with some type of aftermarket LSD.

The ZX2 tranny is a G series tranny but has a different bell housing then the B series engines.... Kinda like how my KL tranny is a G series but different bell housing from the B series as well

So it will not bolt up to a b series motor, is it possible to swap the bell housings and make it work?

That is why I want to use the ZX2 engine/tranny that way I dont have to worry about flywheel/clutch compatibility.
Just not sure on the axle seals. And I've got a couple ideas on using the EGT ball joint.
