Works the same way, only you rev the engine up to match the trans RPM for the lower gear.

So it's possible to not use the clutch at all even reversing or at a stop? SO at a stop you pull the shift to neutral? What about taking off at a stop? Or what about reversing?

You NEED the clutch to start, but my daughter has gotten it in gear a few times without a clutch.

in response to aprevious reply, I would deff. use the clutch when going to reverse from drive... that one would be tricky without it... lol

simplest way to save a clutch is to get all new motor mounts, its like having a brand new car!, no more messing around pulling away from a light.

wow. this is always a sensitive subject with some, but i am a student at UTI in glendale heights IL and i just finished my class on manual transmissions, and we discussed this quite a bit actually. When people say which is cheaper, the tranny or a clutch, they are somewhat right, but usually from doing this "rev matching" one over time wears out the blocking(syncro) rings in the tranny. for a festy: couple dollar fix usually for new blocking rings. but who wants to or has the skills to rebuild a tranny? use the clutch!!! thats what it's there for!!!
