I think we should do a simple spread sheet of the parts needed. We def need the Kia starter correct? Or maybe the 1.8L EGT starter will work? I'm assuming from Shadetree's post that we MUST get the KIA Bell Housing bolts. A quick list would really help all who want to do this. Also you stated you are using the Rio axles. Are you running Aspire LCA's or are you going to run the KIA inner with the Festy outer portion? AXLE CHEAT SHEETSome people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

I have Rio axles, Rio hubs and Festiva LCAs. Don't know if I need a Rio starter or not, but I don't have any other, so I ordered what will definitely bolt up.Originally posted by nitrofarm View PostI think we should do a simple spread sheet of the parts needed. Let's hope not.Originally posted by nitrofarm View PostArent RIO axles in a FESTY TO LONG?
I asked this same question about using 323/non-turbo Capri axles when swapping in an F series transmission (my original plan). For that swap, you use Festiva LCAs. Those axles are even longer.
Never did figure out what it is about the F series swap that lets you get away with "Too Long" 323 axles.Festiva: Because even my dog can build a Honda.

JPT Look at my Cheat Sheet that I linked it spells it out. ATX Festy ATX Aspire & F series all have basically the same diff. I'm almost certian your gonna run into problems if you dont try swapping the stubs or run the Capri xr2 axle setup. If you are doing this swap in an ASPIRE you could run stock RIO axles. But this is just all my opinion I haven't tried it yet.Originally posted by JPT View PostLet's hope not.

I used rio axles and a rio trans , f series six puck clutch and f series flywheel . It worked fine for me they were a little tight but I had no issue ! I'm finding after building many cars that all the bodies are different in the own little way . I've only done this rio swap one time and rolled the car. I sold the complete car to another forum member and he had to make some minor adjustments using the same mounts and crossmember ! He is still running the car today !New build on the way .

One of these days you should get a festy and aspire MTX axle side by side and look at the difference, pull the tripot bearing out and compare the shafts. The only thing different is the inner cv cup, aspires are about an inch (I say this lightly because I don't care exactly how much different) longer. Same goes for ATX axles, inner cv cup is the only difference! I haven't tried it yet but I'm gonna probably end up sticking an aspire axle in my festy because I already have it here ready to go and don't want to shell out 60$ for a new axle if I don't have to.Originally posted by nitrofarm View PostJPT Look at my Cheat Sheet that I linked it spells it out. Thats why I was saying if JPT was to put the Festy axle ends into the RIO inner cup it should be factory fit, with no tightness and room to dial in some neg camber. At least that's how the math works out. Or put ASPIRE LCA's on the Festy and run RIO axles. Guys look at the chart. A RIO and ASPIRE MTX Axle's combined length are within 1/16 of an inch. Thats very close and that shorter 1/16" length of the RIO would make sense because of the thicker Diff that its tranny has. Just saying.....Originally posted by shadetree View PostYou are correct that is the only difference the inner cup if you put aspire and festy axle side by side u will see the difference in the cup making the axle longer !Last edited by nitrofarm; 06-25-2013, 12:02 AM.Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals.
