I believe theres some major confusion on how things work by posts on this thead and my MPG CAM thread. Milling the crown off the piston to get 10-1 would put the piston below deck (not to mention crewd 30's technolgy) and would spark knock before 12-1 would. Theres far more engineering and technology that goes into this than is undrstood!

Pistons are machined to any finished bore size minus .004 , rings are custom made for us tto fit bore plus .005 . How ever i am tooled up .030 & .060 over wich should will simplify every set being diferend size

These engines are none interference be cause of the valve reliefs ,no v r's would bend the intake valves upon start up, unless of course valve lift was reduced to about .200 lift and what sense would that make? As i said theres much thought that goe's into this.

          $860?

Sounds like I made a deal on my build. Milled 048" off head and. 02" over. Easily in the mid 10s low 11s.

Complete gasket kit, and bearings/rings , including dip and bore, and hanging new aluminum on rods, $620. I did my own 3-way grind and head work.

I'll make a note, pm if interested, I did 44 * on valves and 45* on seats. According to Chilton, good practice if engine is notorious for burning valves.

Under $400 I'd be interested. Then again, I'm not a racer boy, I did this project for fun. And needed something to get to work and home, and run on pump gas instead of 110...

I'm just saying..... Between availability on stock pistons, and some mill work, sounds a bit on the high side, regardless of the manufacturing for the yield in the end.

And delete if desired. I won't find if offensive. It's just the Internet.

please note that these dont require machining ($$$) and they don't take away material from the combustion chamber (BTW .046" is ALOT!!!!) also, these will hold up to boost forever AND they reduce friction, and weigh less and allow for quicker reving (which factory pistons cannot do in any respect). now also compair to a set of custom pistons (which thee essentially are).

Sorry. I'm spoiled. Used my mill. 1hr of free time. And yes, it's a lot but runs Ok on 160* tstat and 8* base.
Sorry. I didn't care about quick Rev. Economy build.
Sorry. Didn't care about boost . Once again, economy build.

As mentioned, delete posts, just the 'net.

And I never said it's not worth the money for the average Joe. In my eyes, no. Everyone is open to opinion.

These is a fancy piston kit.
Will probably hold up to anything you throw at them.
Go look at any other custom billet forged steel piston kits and compare prices and technology invested.
I bet Matt's will come out on top for best price and features included per dollar.

Too many criticisms and matt may take his work elsewhere.

Jason, it's nice that you have some skills such that you can do your own engine work, to your satisfaction. But you're coming across (to me at least) as a troll. Don't say "It's just the net", like that's an excuse to criticize a guy with (perhaps) more knowledge and skill than you have. What we say does matter, it's a reflection on us. No free passes because "It's just the net."

Guys, these are state of the art custom pistons. Yes, they are expensive, but not for what they are and the engineering involved. The average Joe, doing a basic rebuild or looking for a mild performance piston, is not the target market. Matt knows all too well how "cheap" most of us are. These are serious power adding components for serious performance.

yesssss. serious performance. and anyone who wants the best must also pay the best.
you guys know how long ive surfed the net all these years for someone putting out products like these for
what has always been my dream of doing an all motor build.
and for this guy to fall in our lap and design such top of the line products is more than I could ask for.
if i were in his shoes i would love to be creating such, dare i say (works of art)
and the art is mechanical design.

I meant no offense, Matt. Hope it didn't come off that way. Your stuff is awesome, but I think you're on another level than where most of us are price wise. Definitely me. But more power to you.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.
