Would be a Focus/Escape/etc 2.3 DOHC. I would personally never do one of those after replacing valves on one. The timing tensioner design is stupid, the timing setup (both cam and crank) is stupid, and they used torx head bolts which is, well, stupid.

Trying to get fun and fast... Really fast! Would an engine out of a 99 protege work? I looked at a really good engine in one recently

You could probably convince it to work, if you got the trans also

There are a lot of kia Rio too so maybe I'll pull a b6 out of one of those.

I think guys make miata bp engines work, so 1.8 from like 94 to 2000 or so. Or maybe that was only the head, Hell idk.

Miatas are easy to come by here just the prices are too high I really sety sight s on a b6 dohc due to having toodify the firewall for a bp.

Yes, the B6 is the superior swap, a little less torque than the BP, but way easier etc.
We don't even maintenance the 2.3, just plug in a 2.5 from a 2010 Fusion, low miles costs apx. $1200.
                        No car too fast !

99 Protégé 1.6 will bolt right to your stock trans, so yes it will work. It's a great engine too, but you will have clearance issues with the intake manifold.

Is there a manifold I can bolt on off another car.

Looks like there is a spot where a distributor can be installed if it had a different rocker cover. It looks like it would be possible to run this car using the festiva computer. Can someone confirm this? I know the cables and connections would be different but it wouldn't be too hard to change those. Probably wouldn't be too hard to pull the harness and computer either. Just it is an auto trans and working on such a setup seems possible as well but also a little difficult. Just newer engines get more complex and I want to make sure this is within my abilities. Probably possible since I did the efi swap.
