    OK, moving right along:

... the second irreversible modification, oil holes for cylinder 2 & 3's rocker arms welded shut.

Yikes - I'm going to have to decide which car to put this thing in pretty soon here :-)

Go for the blue one, its a 5 speed should be the best for mileage!

Yeah, the blue one would definitely be better... I just like driving it so much more than the yellow one I hate to take it out of commission :-).

Speaking of that, is it really necessary to remove the gearbox along with the engine? That's what the Haynes manual says, but I'd really rather just take the engine out and not screw around with all that other stuff.

Just remember that a stick shift car will need more room to pull just the engine due to the clutch assembly being bigger than just a flexplate on an auto.

                          Slowly but surely...

Definitely don't want any leaks in this sucker, so I made steel plugs and brazed them in. I'm thinking that I can probably plug the injector holes in the manifold with some sort of epoxy.

Well I sure hope I'm not overlooking some big honkin' show stopping problem of some sort

More progress - Got some permatex epoxy putty for the injector holes, and made a blank sheet of aluminum to replace the center of the gasket between the intake manifold sections:

The whole efi assembly back on the engine:

I'm kinda leaning towards putting the thing in the yellow car (with the automatic transmission). I know the 5 speed would be better for gas mileage, but wonder if maybe the automatic would make it a lot easier to deal with the wimpy engine... I dunno.
