Here is the Viper installed in the Festiva. I had to drill a single hole through the stock support bracket for the progressive lock relays. Note the offset to avoid the glove box. Other wires in the photo include the connector to the door goodies + the wire coming down the A-pillar for the R/H lighted vanity mirror. I will take a picture from the bottom to show clearance after I have the dash in place.

Here is a picture with the camera on the floor looking up. You will see the half inch clearance between the glove box and the relays.

I matched all three lock actuator wire colors up. Red to red, and green to green. For anyone else installing a rear hatch actuator, pulling on the rod OPENS the hatch. I had to switch the wires. I also screwed up the manual lock switch in the car and had to also switch the wires. I am getting very good at releasing terminals out of connectors. Remote progressive locks + dash switch with diodes work perfectly now.

I just want to let everyone know that I switched rod positions between the inner door pull knob and the lock actuator. I have updated the pictures earlier in the thread. The actuator rods are now straight, resulting in a crisper pull.

Actuator rods can be easily made from junkyard Festiva rods. It helps if you have a small groove in the center of the vice jaws. Hammer perpendicular to the jaws. The material is extremely ductile. You should be able to make nice sharp 90° bends.

One of the things that comes with power locks is horn honk. I pushed the panic button on my Viper remote and this is what my Honda Spree horn sounds like. If anyone knows of a small horn that sounds a little more futuristic, let me know.

That made me laugh. I don't think you could get any thing "more futuristic" or squeaker for that matter. :-)

The auto seat belt latches also have the holes present to add a power lock actuator.
I will be changing my manual latches back to sensor latches so that I can hook up a relay to drive the panic mode alarm for door open without remote disarm.

Multimeter test shows continuity when open and no continuity when latched.
I will figure out the proper connection to the Viper alarm and post the result.
The alarm must trigger panic mode when either door is opened without a remote disarm. They use it as ignition triggered. I have to modify it for door unlatch triggered.

H1/15 YELLOW (+) Switched Ignition InputConnect this wire to an ignition source. This input must show (+)12V with the key in run position and during cranking. Make sure that this wire cannot be shorted to the chassis at any point. This wire will trigger the system if the ignition is turned on before the unit is disarmed (doors unlocked
with the remote). It will also honk the vehicle’s horn and flash the parking lights (if connected).

Extremely disappointed today. After installing seat belt door latches, and wiring them up to always hot power then back to the Viper yellow wire, it didn't work.

All I got was an automatic relock two seconds after the door is opened without the remote. No horn honk or flashing lights.

I think the yellow wire was only intended for an ignition system. The default is:
                    Ignition-controlled door lock ON

The doors are supposed to lock automatically two seconds after the car is started if you connect the yellow wire.

Likewise, the doors unlock when the ignition is shut off.

This is my first attempt at making videos. Please check if it will stream. If it works, I will replace this video with a more comprehensive one, which uses a script, tripod and better lighting.

It's not showing up as a video for me. Neither of them are. I can hear you talking though.

                            Thanks for the feedback.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
My windows media player runs the mp4 just fine.
I translated m2ts into mp4. Maybe I should change it to wmv? Let me try.
The WMV file is triple the size!
Try this one. Let me know if you can see a picture.
                            Thanks.

Update. I successfuly cloned another Viper remote that I bought on the bay.
They don't mention it in the instructions, but they assume that you have connected the yellow wire to your ignition wire, in order to enter valet mode. You are allowed to program up to four remotes. I will buy another one, just in case.
                              No problemo.
You have no idea what a great feeling it is to get out of a Festiva in a parking lot and push a remote, immediately after another guy pushes his remote for his luxury SUV.

Burning Lock would be an excellent complement for proper sound. I need a Doberman growl followed by a couple of vicious barks. I need suggestions as to the best location for the hidden sensor. Maybe it could have a sultry female "Well hello".
In the roof? hood? door? fuel door?
