hook a tach signal wire to the positive side of your ignition coil.

Hey, I put a tach on my 89, wired to the negative side, but the rpms aren't correct. It looks okay at idle, but it only revs to 2500, when it sounds like 5000. What's the deal?
'89 L! -shaved, lowered, 17's, and two 10"subs. B6swap. Candy tangerine, flamed, painted carbon look hood/stripes. AND the roof glows in the dark... That was a dumb idea.

its set to 8cyl mode. there should be a switch, jumpers, or wire loops to configure it for 4cyl.

                  4cyl, 1 crank rev = 2 ignition events

When I hook up my aftermarket tach, I'll set it to "12 cylinder mode." That should be good for an extra 100 hp or so.

Then I'll sell them as "superpower tach kits" on ebay!

Ohhhhh, that makes sense. It seems its only reading half of everything. I guess I shouldn't have thrown the instructions away, huh?

i put a 3.5" sunpro supertach II in my 93 festiva L it was kinda ez cept when i cut the ign wire trying to splice it. quick wire strippers/splicers dont work too good on wires that small it just ripped them apart but i taped it temp and fixed it later after i got home put it on where i worked cause there was nothin else to do
