what brand shifter did you use? did you reuse the stock bushings or drill out some brass ones? looks good!

I bought the cheap one off eBay for $9 just incase I didn't like it. I don't expect it to last long, but I won't be slamming gears really hard like others. And i might get a slap on the wrist for this, but I just put three washers on each side where it hooked to the linkage as it was more narrow than stock.

its super easy to make... get a stock shifter, cut the end off where it bolts to the linkage place the shifter loosely in a vice but close to the pivot ball, hammer the shifter through the pivot ball until it comes off, then take some 5/8" steel rod drill a hole to accept the linkage bolt, take the original "T" you cut off the bottom and drill a 1/2" hole through it(this cuts it in half and rounds the edges so you can weld it to the 5/8" rod. install the shift linkage bolt and use it to hold the 2 loose ends where the linkage bolts up nice and straight.trim the edges to match the stock width.
at this point you should have a hollow steel ball and a piece of 5/8" rod that will bolt to the shift linkage. "flatten" the ball just a little bit so that it requires a little force. it needs to be tight enough to be able to shift gears without moving but loose enough where you dont need to hammer it to get it to move it. if you hammer on it(like i did) you rip the rubber bushings out of the bucket and need a new one adjust shifter up and down until desired shifter throw is obtained. tack weld(or mark) the ball in place. remove shifter from car and put at least 3 good tacks on top and bottom. paint, install, and enjoy
I know its a piece of crap but im still faster...and its 100% legal!!!!!

All you have to do is open up the picture you want to re-size then put your mouse over the picture, which should then put a little toolbar across the top of the pic. And re-size is the third option over. Next click on the size you want I forget what the rule is for size here.

Nice job, I loved doing the short shifter because I hate the throw of a stock festy. Those $9.00 shifters work wonders, I've been driving with one for over a year now and I drive my car hard.

The throw of the stock shifter is so long, I love the shoprt shifter. Its good to know that yours hasnt snapped in half like others say they do. I wont be worried... and even if it does, it was only $9 haha
