I am now of the opinion that a man with a drill and 100 zip ties can do this swap and not have the offset seat, finding bar stock/welder and completely avoid the "oh dear Jesus a dumptruck!" sensation a wreck would cause.1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

The hardest part of any complete seat swap for a Festiva is the extreme offset in the height of the outer mounts as compared to the inner mounts. I presume that is because the seat controls are located on the side, rather than having a front bail bar. That is why I went with a combination of cutting some thick walled rectangular tube, welding and rivetting. The second biggest challenge was clearing the shifter handle by offseting the mount pads. Good luck gentlemen.

There are a set of Prelude seats that require a mount adaptation to fit properly because there's a "bump" in the floor where they mount to the rear. That was my point when you said "Prelude seats don't require height modification" or something to that effect.
My point in mentioning the Civic seats was that Honda frequently changed things around mid-generation like that to keep up with changing safety standards and interior updates, and they may or may not have done that in the Prelude, although I believe the only change in seat frame arrangement for the Prelude came with the generation change.
Post #13 is a quote of someone else's post, and does not include a year designation, by the way. You mentioned '93 at one point, but I was replying to a post that was not year specific made by bravekozak about making a height adapter for a set of Prelude seats. I'm not positive, but the seat pictured there appears to be a 96+ seat, fifth generation, whereas the '93 you mentioned earlier is a 4th gen.
I guess that's clear enough now...Last edited by Christ; 10-03-2012, 05:10 PM.

I'll post pics of the driver seat tonight, but I can go from a complete Prelude seat to complete Festy-framed Prelude seat in under an hour and a half. Will show some how-to stuff as well.1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.
