If everyone quit when someone else said it couldn't be done, we'd still be throwing rocks and sleeping in caves.

Bert, sometimes you sound so critical!Originally posted by Bert View PostI've been watching this thread ever since it began. Those seats are way too big, I figured, but one month later this thread has not yet died.
Well?
Where are pictures of the final product?
If it works without having to go through conniption fits for fabrication and the doors still close without slamming then I am very interested. The whole concept of being enveloped in a 'comfy' chair while piloting a Festy is exciting and just about everyone today makes makes better seats and fabrics then were found on Festys.
If you read any of my posts, you would have seen I have pics of the seats sitting in the Festy with quite a bit of clerance all around. I got the Montana seats because they were close to the size of the Festy seats. They are only 2 inches wider. The Festy seats have 3 inches of clearance between door and seat and 1 inch of clearance between my Escort console and Festy seat. That is 4 inches of clearance and the Montana seats are only 2 inches wider. Plenty of room!!!
If you want these seats Bert, get 'em. They do fit. Welding will be required, but just to extend the feet, for the rail distance difference.
I have the passenger seat installed and have taken pictures, which I will be posting shortly. The feet are welded and need to be painted, so there is a small amount to do before they are "final" but the seat is in and nothing interferes anywhere at all. A good 1 1/2inches clearance for shifter in reverse also.
I, like you am excited about this install, I wouldnt have gotten them if I even remotely thought it would be a hassle, and wouldnt fit.
I was walking through a JY just looking, and I walked by a van (the montana) and happened to look in as I did. The seats just jumped out at me! I had to catch them
They looked really nice, and my first thought was "These look close to the same size as my Festiva seats"!!! They also were close to some of the Festiva cloth seat patterns. Hence this whole thread came about!
I think I will start an INSTALL thread for a good pictorial and write up
BTW, I work nights, 10-12 hours a day, with a 45-50 minute drive each way, and dont have a lot of time to do stuff like this during the week. Beside, I am not in a hurry. The seats are in work, and will be installed, when they get installed.
Ya know, I coulda just got this install done and not even mentioned it to anyone here.
I shared, so peeps could do this if they wanted.
Be on the lookout for the install thread .... coming soon to a Festiva forum near you! :highly_amused:Last edited by drddan; 08-30-2013, 11:06 PM.

Dont care! :razz:Originally posted by fastivaca View PostHate to throw another damper on this project. We have '04 Montana and don't find the seats all that comfortable, especially on longer trips. The stock Festiva seats are quite comfy considering how "basic" they are. I will admit that we've switched seats in both of or Festiva. Gen 1 Toyota MR2 seats in mine and Aura Integra seats in my daughter's. Both are way more comfortable than the Montana ones.

They look good! Thats all that matters. Just ask a woman that is shopping for shoes!
Actually I have had them in and sat on them while I was mocking up the fit, and they felt fine. We shall see when I have them in for a while. I still have the original Festy seats.
I am welding the feet now, just taking a break. Should have a seat welded for install tonite.
BTW, my welder SUX! Well not really, its just not enough amps for the penetration I would like. Its a Clark 100EN Turbo. 100 amp isnt enuf!
Great for thin stuff. Doin' a couple passes on 'em and should be okay.Last edited by drddan; 08-30-2013, 07:33 PM.

Guilty! Zanzer and Motoexpress dragged me to a dyno instead that dayOriginally posted by drddan View PostI thought you were making a JY run to get some Montana seats! Talk about a slacker!
Sandblasting the paint off the feet at work today so I can start welding. Also going to Harbor Freight to get a welding cart. Now that I have my welder converted to gas, it needs a cart!

I like that helmut!Originally posted by bravekozak View Postdr, it's unlucky you got hit. Don't buy any lottery tickets for six months. They are a sucker bet anyway. Unbelievable that it weighed four and a half pounds. I would wear some skull protection until it heals up.
How in the helmet can they offer that for 20 bucks?
