Capri Swap (big photos)

Ok i did a little research today, i plan on using the capri brakes and capri wheels. and from what i see i might need to use the capri strut/springs. no real problems other than the 4 bolt mount(no pictures)


When i took the driver side wheels off both cars(currently driving the Capri) i noticed a pretty big difference in the spring perch on the struts, and the clearance between the pearch and hub.

i never set the festiva on the ground with the rims on. i was jsut getting some measurements and jsut seeign how the fitting was going to be.

And i just picked up this.

nice hope it turns out good when your don't i'm going to have to come take a look and see if i want it... i did the aspire swap on the back of mine but when i went back to get the front half somone already got it and well no aspires have the front half where i live so i'm kinda been waiting or till i get enough money to buy the front half new... nice choice on the intercooler can't wait to see when it's done...

nice i used the capri rims with slicks on my festiva. fit pretty well. but i didnt do the capri swap. on the rear depens on what size tires you use you may need ot use a 1/4 inch spacer. i didnt becasue i used smaller tires than my slicks in the rear.

The capri and the festiva have the same bolt pattern. but different offset. so with you already having the rear aspire swap id still go with front aspire or youd have different bolts patterns. but still have great brakes. il look in the local yards and see if they have them. you jsut need the front hubs? and calipers with rotors?

il take a look.

i was going to just grab stuff from a car in the junkyard but i found it would be a bunch easier since i need a lot of parts from the car to jsut buy a whole running one.

havnt thought about the rear yet. going to have to see what i can do. maybe get smaller tires.

maybe for the rear use an aspire rear beam with capri spindles and drum just re drill the holes on the aspire beam, who know maybe youll get lucky and it will bolt up? i dont rember looking ar the rear suspension of my donor capri its long gone but i did keep the front hubs, i see you used the capri control arm and sway bar, could you use aspire control arms? i think thats what the other guy was using who did the capri swap, i wondr what sway bar is better.

dont be mistaken. its not done yet. everythings still on the capri. but i plan on using the aspire sway bar and festiva control arms. and jsut bulting up the capri stuff. balljoint is in the same location i think its possible to fit.

i seen something about someone using the aspire rear beam. but the capri is all disk brakes and im nto sure how im going to do that. but i plan on it. maybe not right away.

There is a writeup for the rear capri axle swap if you want to go to the trouble and to be honest, having the IRS in the rear i think would add to the car itself..

I am running 14x6 rims with a 6mm spacer, and the long BMW studs. My tires are 185/60x14, and there is no rubbing. The Capri rims are 5.5" wide, so you gain a little there.

I would think you could get by with these tires on the Capri rims, without a spacer:
