On the L series, at least in 1990 when I bought mine, the passenger mirror was an option. Of course, so was the radio and antenna. The antenna was a 43.00 option at the time. ( mine had no radio either).

Oh and Welcome to the site. I hope you can make it to Madness on Oct 5.

The above link parts should work fine but I would check with rockauto.com before I bought them. At rockauto, you can get Moog parts which cost a little more but are better parts.

That is so incredibly bizarre to me that a side view mirror was an option lol. Aren't you just as likely to switch lanes to the right? The guy told me that it didn't have radio or ac but it does have the antenna a radio and speakers none of which currently work but makes my life easier when adding the stuff in. I just bought a 25 dollar Media Center AM/FM Radio from Walmart.com and the wiring harness hoping that it is a simple fix. Although there isn't a listed radio fuse on the panel.

Radio, AC passenger side mirror, radio antenna (if you didn't get the radio) all were options. Speaker wise, you can put 4" in the dash and rear panels or 6.5" in the doors.

Mine will cruise at 70-75 all day without any issues. (it has 332K+ miles on it). At those speeds I get about 35 mpg +-3mpg. And that's uncorrected as I"m running 14" wheels with 185-60 tires. And they are a blast in the mountains!!

Judging by how well the car was maintained originally I do think it is premature to say 'the stock festy brakes don't have enough stopping power'. Likely as not they're similarly useful as is the suspension at present. Learn how to service what you've got before you get all wound up attempting to tackle with swaps! There are lots of hang-ups, learning curves and improvising involved once you leave "the beaten track" of simply trying to keep a car serviced and going.
Steel Metro/Swift/Geo rims from the 90s are direct fit 13s by the way, until such time that you gather up the finances, parts, experience and courage to take on the Rio/Aspire leap over to 4 X 100 bolt and a whole new Festy world.

It will after you get the suspension stuff all sorted out.

That was taken while driving my car on the interstate with the stock 197K B3 and a burnt exhaust valve on #3 cylinder

                      I had two b3s burn #3 too....

                      First was stock 280k, burned.
Replaced valve 80k later burned again.

So did a complete master bore and build, cut seats 45* and 44* on faces, per dad's old 70s Chilton that recommends that cut on engines notorious for burning valves....

And these small valves do so.

I'll keep posted if I smoke another exhaust valve...

^^ It's a common problem with the B3's tiny exhaust valves. They're too small to dissipate heat effectively so they just cook and then burn. Removing the shelf on the short turn side in the exhaust runner seems to help.

Only way to beat that game is sodium filled stems... Our 332hd to this day still glows the manifolds cherry red, after a hard 80,000# pull, night time, 1am, jump out, red hue under the truck......

I've watched the oil pressure climb in synch as the temp drops just idling.

This isn't my first car, just my first festiva. I've done multiple suspension jobs on my truck. Although I have 80 percent decided to just replace the worn suspension with new parts and get an alignment and see where that gets me.

Also as far as wheels it was a wash at the pullapart. Checked all the suggested vehicles and notta. Also checked most of the vehicles on this list that my buddy sent me.
These are some wheels that will fit the Festiva

Any thoughts as to the accuracy of this list? Also if I was to go to a 14" inch rim are there any major downsides? Such as significant loss of mpg or acceleration or extra strain on the brakes?

I was able to get the side trim that i was missing on one side of my festiva. Also got the strut for the rear hatch but that was about it most of both the festivas were stripped.

Also got an excellent pair of escort seats that still had very firm fitting foam. Also pulled the cubby as it had a built in shelf that mine didn't.

Also interestingly enough Ford has to different color teals. Mine is more bluish aqua than the one at the yard today. And unfortunately the driver fender was beat up worse than mine.
