I think I might just buy an entire aspire and take what I want out of it

I can not confirm that the turn ratio is any different at all . I have no proof of this .
New build on the way .

I remember taking turns in the Festiva and being very scared so I have no basis for comparison. I just "heard" it somewhere.

I would probably de-power the rack for my car, but I have a friend who needs the entire power setup for a car he's building. I have de-powered a lot of racks and I just drain the system and run it without lines attached to the rack. If there is no fluid in the system, there is no hydraulic resistance. I have had racks last over 100K miles this way with no problems on VW's, and that was when I lived in Maine, driving in snow and muck all the time.
Typically, power racks have quicker ratios than manual racks. Since I have never driven an aspire, power or not, I can't know that this is true here, just speculation. However, if Shadetree will count the turns lock to lock I can know for sure.

My Aspire seems to have a slightly quicker steering ratio than my Festy. In the Aspire, it's easier to pull a 180 out of my parking spot on a two-lane road to go the other way.

Neither car has power steering BTW.

I have p/s and rio tops. Keeps my shoulder feeling really good.

I am liking the idea of the Aspire P/S rack. Will keep an eye on this for sure. Even less steering would be a sweet upgrade.

Did you use festiva or aspire outer rod ends?
Are you running a de-powered aspire rack on your festiva?

If you are using Festiva spindles then you need festiva outer tie rod ends, if you are using Aspire spindles then you will need Aspire outer tie rod ends. Capri is the same as Festiva, Rio is the same as Aspire. Mazda/Ford changed the angle of their taper on the tie rod ends between the BF and BG chassis generations. That is all I know about that.

So some simple math would say Festiva=Capri=Escort and Aspire=Rio?
