      • Started putting the interior back in today. Was going to replace the plastic panels with some nice ones I have from an 89 festiva but found out that due to the switch from manual to auto belt the trim in a little different. I decide to try and paint the panels instead. Big improvement for a few dollars. Spruces it up, hides the stratches, and restores the faded grey.

        • Hey, what kind of paint did you use? I was looking for something and I like that shade. I was wondering if regular spray paint would be okay, or if I need Krylon Fusion (for plastics) or something like that.

          • It is Krylon fusion, but I think any paint would work. Im no paint expert though.

            • Did you do any sanding/prep work on the panels before you painted them?

              • Why did you do that?!? Now I have to take my interior apart and do the same thing.

Seriously though, how well do you think it will hold up?

I know, Id love to have them too !! My hood looks real bad, its charred black underneath. Kind of ruins the clean engine bay effect.

I pick it up at the hardware store, ACE I believe. I took a piece of plastic with me and tried to match it as close as possible. The original grey had faded some. You could see a difference in color where the back seat had blocked the sun. It was darker where it had been covered.

                              • I just tried using Rustoleum Universal ($7 per can, supposed to be good for plastics) and it sucked. I shook it up really well and the paint still came out in splatters. After about 10 seconds of use, the special spray nozzle it has broke.
