Just a little update. We just had a salvage yard open here. Take-A- Part "self serve auto parts". I checked it out. Nice place. I just bought a complete Aspire brake swap. Hubs, rotors and calipers, sway bar, front springs, rear beam drum to drum and the steel wheels/tires. Very clean parts. This all came from a super clean '97 with 82K. I could see that the car had just had new brakes. The pads look new.
The car had no rust, no damage. Nice, spotless interior, clean motor, Solid exhaust and only 82K on the clock. I found out why it was there while under the front. Both output bearings on the trans were gone. I mean GONE gone as in, no longer there. It must have been making an awful noise. Too bad, Such a waste of a good car. I'll bet the owner got about $200 bucks for it. I would have given the 3 bills. Add 2 more for a trans, swap iit n a weekend and had a 2k car. Oh well. Glad I got these parts finally. Maybe someday I'll get them put on.

Here are some pics I found of the Mazda 121 gas door popper install.
Installing under the the floor brace.

The mounting holes are all there. You just need a 10mm bolt.

The wiring harness clamps even have provisions for the cables.

Routing the cables into the left rear quarter panel area.

This is inside the gas filler door. Note the latch clip has a ruber coated forked section ready for the cable end to attach.

Clip removed for drilling. Note cross hair mark for hole location.

        Hole drilled and cable pulled.

Grommet pulled and clip installed. Just need to bolt the clip down and done.
I just fed the hatch popper cable around to the back but didn't get to hook it up. I ended up selling this car after my Dad died unexpectedly last fall.

do you think the hatch install would be more difficult than the gas door? i noticed gomez was interested also (possibly) if he wants it let him have it, if not lmk & i might still get it if the hatch release would be as easy as the gas door. im going to look at my hatch to see if i might be able to do this w/o to much trouble.tks danny that door panel is perfect you sent me.

How much are you asking, I can't find the post with the price, I bought one from you many years back, it works great and an easy install.
