awesome well i hope i can work all the kinks out, took the gt out again and had some trouble starting it, it had been sitting for 6 months i guess so i had to put water n the battery n jump it to start it after a few attempts it worked ntm the battery was all corroded and nasty....as long as that engine stays good im fine, i think maybe the alernator might need replaced but thats cool cus i was just gonna use mine anyways.i will keep you all posted.
in Northampton..yeah i know im crazy for driving that far lol almost paid more in gas then for the car but it was a good deal so i just bit the bullet. it was a fun trip too, untiil we got pulled over by new jersey state police...@$$40!3$ made me stand outside in the freezing rain with a t-shirt for a half hour just to mess with me and feel like he has power over another human. anyway it was no biggie, just got a cold now but got a bp with all the necessaries too so a little sacrifice for the swap! dedication I do have, so theres a will and a way now i just have to make it happen.I have a new set of gaskets / timing belt w. pulley/ water pump/ seals/ plugs/ wires and cap coming in soon for the bp, any thing other that I should replace b fore starting with the swap? I am gonna do an aftermarket air intake on the vaf, i have a couple fuel lines and am getting a b3 stock thermo house so i can keep the upper rad house. i will have to still fab the mounts and all the other good stuff but i am trying to make things as easy as possible before I even think about renting a hoist. also for the festy I got a new auto rad, all new gr2 struts front and back, new 88-89 grill to make the open grille, and more stuff I cant think of right now. soo this will be a fun project. thanks for lookin.
Claude, start hitting the strut bolts with PB blaster now.
Hope the rear strut bolts come out.
Use an impact wrench and socket to keep from snapping off any of the bolts.
Are you going to change out the lower control arms and anti-sway bar bushings?

If they are, they must be replaced.
The ball joint comes as a pressed in part of the lower control arm.
A failed ball joint will permit the drive wheel to turn 90 degrees from its desired rotational plane, slam into the wheel well, while pulling the axle from the transmission.
With the added benefit of you not being able to steer the vehicle.
I know this from experience, don't learn the way I had to.
Check them out if they are loose replace them.
If they are tight and the rubber seals are shot, try to get replacements seals.
I'm not certain you can get the ball-joint seals separately anymore, but someone else may know of a source.

alright thanks for the info. I'll look into it, any other things you might suggest before I start to get my hands dirty? you can see what I have got so far and I have a timing belt kit coming in the mail, so yeah the engine wasnt it the cleanest, greatest condition but I am replacing most everything on it so...you think I should get aftermarket camshafts too? i just know if I do that then I have to get new valves too and all that cus the old parts will damage the new cam or whatever.

Not trying to jack your thread, but here is a motivational photo of mine to make sure the balljoints get checked.
Feels good to finally have your donor car and parts in front of you doesn't it? When the swap is done you will be glad you did it
