with the MAF sensor, do I cut the wire 6 inches back from the connector and just splice it to the festy harness, or do i take that connector out alltogether and put the festy one in? waasnt sure which, also i pulled it out thinking it was a simple hard connector and it turned out it was a series of pins and wierd prongs that hook up to individual wires and relays inside the MAF so i got the rest of the wires hooked back and im putting it back in the maf but how do i know if it is sitting right to where those connections are all touching properly? it was just a wierd looking connector...

^ you do not need to cut anything!!!!!!!!!! Stop before you get yourself further in than you can get out of. Read all the swap threads here and you'll see there is no cutting. Except the "green" ics plug. 2 wires.-Greg

When you cut the plugs off the BP harness and
give yourself at least 6” of wire attached to them. Also cut the fuel line off about
6 “ back from the connections. Remove from the BP the power steering stuff,
A/C compressor, flywheel, block plate (thin metal plate), injector harness.
Temporarily remove the side engine mount and the alternator
^says right here to cut the wires off the bp....so your saying cut nothing on the bp? cus there are some hoses that I believe to be the powr steering and the ac that i was going to cut definetly but wat do u mean no cutting

You will need to cut the ICS plug from the escort. It's the roundish shaped plug on the bottom portion of the throttle body. It get spliced to the green square plug in the festy harness. 2 wires. One is larger than the other. Connect big/big and small/small. The distributor plug will need to be changed also. You can cut it out of the escort harness Or just add a wire into your festy plug. Last you'll need the 2 plugs that go to the vics solenoid, and prc solenoid. These you'll cut from the escort harness or you can use the one that is already in the festy. It's tan and located close to the windshield wiper motor on the firewall. The other you can tap one wire in to the others that you just extended and the other to the ecu. It was simple once I got to that point. I would just unplug stuff for now and get the mechanical parts out and ready. Electrical will probably be the last thing you do.-Greg

exhaust
got a new downpipe with flex from rockauto, will be building a new 2 1/4 system for the swap, with a cat however I need this to be all by the book since its my DD and I want to be able to pass emmisions. So I will get a new O2 sensor, New cat etc, everything clean pics to come if interested.
also what has been everyones experience with bp emmisions? anyone had to pass with it or does anyone know what major things are involved in MD emmisions test? I know they chek the cap and the cat etc but do they do any more in depth tests that i should be prepared for? just curious to know everyones experience on this.

more progress. getting closer and closer
bought new downpipe for the bp, one on the escort was just too rusted and mesed up so i got this and will make all new exhaust anyway , not about to run the festy pipes. Also got a new festy o2 sensor and screwed right in to the escort downpipe. cool
fits nice, also i hope to pass emissions so i will be running a cat...for now.
also got a slim aftermarket fan to replace the big bulky stock one, will have to come up with a way to wire it not sure if i can use the stock wires..the old fan hasnt been working anyway so good opportunity to fix that problem and give myself more swap room.
new cold air intake setup mod to fit the escort maf.
wiring harness from the escort still intact, kept the whole thing jst to be safe
mocked up intake tube. may have to cut some more before all is said in done.
