also to answer perucho, vacuum gauges actually can be quite handy you just have to know how to read them and what the readings mean, they can tell a lot about an engine/ compression/many diagnoses on issues. so I plan on using it on my bp which also will have a free vacuum port on the manifold so instead of capping it ill be using it, the gauge will be able to tell me if I have bad compression, or good, if my lifters are sticking, if my rings are worn/bad, if my timing is late, also valve timing ,poorly seated valves, blown head gasket, if i have exhaust issues (clogging), and a whole lot more all just by monitoring where that needle moves and how it moves, so its not just something I got to fill in the spot...I want to be able to monitor my bp as closely and accurately as I can and with the vacuum gauge and a little background on how to read and decipher what I'm reading it will really save me if/when I run into issues.
Take a look at this if your interested at all it explains a little more about how vacuum gauges are used
also in order to utilize all these functions you need to have a non digital needle gauge so you can see how the needle moves, In searching I came across some digital vacuum gauges and those really just defeat the purpose of having one, all they can tell you is a number reading which really does nothing for diagnosing issues. so make sure you get a non-digital one if anyone is interestedLast edited by Claude; 08-04-2010, 08:56 AM.

Looking good claude! You are really doing a nice job/ paying attention to detail...i have a quick question, I got the same gasket/seal set that you did for my b8, and there are some seals in it that I do not recognize... its a small metal tube, with a rubber grommet around it, theres 6 of them. Theres also 6 o-rings, and I dont know what they go to. Thanks and keep up the good work!Tyler
91 Festiva, 5spd, B8 swapped, now for paint and suspension
