Front Aspire Swap
Went to the jy yesterday and picked up the front spindles off an Aspire. Also, got new CV axles (Capri) and wheel bearings from parts house. More pics to come.
Will be pushing hard to get this thing on the road in the next couple weeks or sooner. Front mount is nearing completion. This will replace the crossmember as a complete bolt on solution.Last edited by stdsmt22; 01-20-2011, 09:25 AM.----------------------------------------------

Sweet! Wish I had the money to do what you've done already! I've had my festy since June of last year and i've only put new wheels on and painted the interior. I'm putting the escort center console in today and my short shift is on its way!

Crossmember Replacement
We finished the crossmember replacement tonight and installed it. This is a complete bolt on front support for the F-series trans. We tested the clearance on around the sway bar (Aspire swap) and with bar in complete compression the front support still has 1/8 inch clear. Mount is fitted with a rubber bushing at the joint. This support works great and leaves plenty of room under the car for shifter, axle, cable clutch mod, etc...

Spindles Rebuilt
Spent a couple hours last night rebuilding the spindles. New wheel bearings and seals. Turned the rotors about .20. Getting ready to install today with brand new CV axles. All that is missing from this Aspire swap is the struts (rear beam, front spindles, sway bar, and lower arm.----------------------------------------------

Did you use lug bolts to attach your new front transaxle mount to the lower crosspiece? Or am I seeing things?

Shifter
Got the shifter mounted last night. Need to cut a couple inches out of it to fit Protege tranny. Also, did some rewiring but not complete. Probably hit it again tonight. We'll see.----------------------------------------------
