Re-torque? Never had to re torque studs in the past.

WOW. That thing blew through the fire rings into the coolant passages QUICK. The failure looks like it went straight to the coolant passages.

This might be a dumb question but it's fair: did you do the proper ARP re-torque on the head studs after break-in? That's something I've seen when the ARP re-torque wasn't done.

They were both surfaced ( head and block) im not really sure why it happened. I've never had an issue with a stock gasket myself. I hope it doesn't happen again. Im going to order a MLS gasket today.

Were the head bolts torqued properly? That shouldn't have happened to a stock gasket, especially with ARP head studs. IIRC ARP gets a different tq spec

How flat is the head? Block?

Number 1 and number 4 were the culprits.

No specs on the pistons. No detonation.

    Time for a MLS gasket.

b6t didn't come with MLS, (yeah I know, BP's do and they are a better engine ladidadida) but a couple companies make them for the b6. I use cometic. Got one in the mail today in fact.

Some of the auto parts stores gaskets sets (felpro ) don't have the original type mls (multi layer steel) gaskets. I know Mike had that problem and had to order his proper gasket from somewhere?

The builder probably used a crappy head gasket is my guess

The engine has arp head main and rod bolts.

Nooooooooo not me !! it was 11lbs the first run then we pulled over and turned up the boost controller and it was at 15psi when the coolant vacuum cap on the intake manifold blew off so I shut her down and coasted into the parking lot to fix it. And when I started it back up is when I noticed it was idling rough and white smoke/steam was coming out. And coolant leaking from the exhaust manifold.

I left work for 10 min and got a chance to pull my plugs..looks like I'm taking the head off tonight after work!

Plugs 4-3-2-1 (left to right) 4 and 1 have coolant on them.

Well..the coolant system is pressurized and I think I might have popped the head gasket. Time to tear it down.

    I've got some luck!
