Figured I'd start one of these, a lot of you have probs seen my prev. thread on the festy I got a little over a week ago, 1991 L, I've been learning stick, so far so good, Immediate upgrades will be, Novelty horn to replace broken stock one, small tach for dash, grease speedo cable, stereo headunit and speakers this summer. The big project will be this fall/winter for my culminating project at school. A BP+fseries swap is my goal, post any helpful hints here, I already got the sticky and have been doing some searching on it. I decided this is better than a B8 because of the aftermarket support, and it looks better under the hood. Thanks for reading.

Well, full wash and wax, tried some pictures, but there must be something with the lighting here in the afternoon because the pictures still looked orange, also it doesn't look especially shinier in the pics, I'll post pics the next time I do something meaningful.Owner of:

Update, it had a little knock when I got it a tlow rpm under load, now, there is a fair amount of knock at low to mid rpm, haven't got my tach in yet, figured the anal driving inspector would call it a visibility impairment, or make me look like a ricer to untrained eyes. ANYWAY, I run it on 87octane, this tank is cheap ARCO, I'll probably switch to mid grade SHELL or Chevron, think this will do it, under hard load in second up our driveway at low revs it sounds like a VW diesel, lol.Owner of:

alright, upgraded to midgrade and the knock has subsided some, Im not too worried as this engine will be replaced with 1.8L of DOHC fury this fall.
for audio, http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158GT55...ts%7c4-channel
Has anyone used these speakers, if so, do they fit in the door holes. If not do they fit on the back factory mounts, I would prefer no spacers, I can do some basic cut holes in plastic stuff.
Any recommendations for rears if these work for fronts or fronts if these fit for rears?Owner of:

alright, thanks the oil was so clean when I got it that it was hard to see any line on the dipstick, but there was still plenty of oil.Owner of:

those speakers i dont think will work in the door and may just look silly in the back ports. heres what i have done for speakers
4 4" speakers (two in the dash mounts, two in the back mounts)
2 5" speakers in the door. (They were like 1/16th off for each hole. I bought those plastic/nylon clip screw holes and used my power drill to push the screw threw them a little crooked. not a professional fix but i have no ratal and they dont shift around when driving.)
here is some crutchfield provided info. they say 6.5" will fit the doors but my 6.5" sony explodes did NOT fit....
another good place to mount two speakers would be on the sides of the backseat. lemme see if i can spot a good picture...
okay cant find the picture i saw before BUT if your gonna go all out with this system you should really go check out the custom audio and video catagory in this very forum. alot of very creative people and plenty of pictures showing how they did what they did.
good luck in your journy.
