Hydraulic pressure is still mechanical force. The intent is that it can't be something which requires constant energy, such as a line lock solenoid or an actuator solenoid.

The caveat there is that it CAN be a solenoid that defaults to apply the brakes using mechanical force such as a leverage linkage or direct pressure. It also must have a locking device, IIRC, unless the mechanism's default setting is applying brake force.

Hydraulics are not a mechanical means of braking. I believe the intent of the wording is for a mechanical linkage type of braking.


One problem with hydro E-brakes is that when left engaged for a while they have a tendency to blead back rendering the parking brake useless. It is not a good idea to use a hydraulic e brake to actually hold the car stationary for an extended period of time (guessing here: over an hour or so) most people use hydro E-brakes to gain extra braking force for drifting.

in WV the law requires you to have a parking brake. this is what it will be. ive never reach down and grabbed the Parking brake in a incident usually you dont have time, or it locks up the rear tires causing you to slide out of control.

I would invest in some boundary engineering billet oil pump gears if you are going to run high boost then. I just heard about another guy who's oil pump gears blew up running boost and an undamped pulley.

PM Hatchback immediately! he just found a 4wd pro in a junkyard he pm'd me about it and I went to send him one back and there was a database error. You might have gotten lucky! even if they are toast they can still be rebuilt through rockauto.

yeah he is gonna look for me this weekend hopefully. Its a big relief knowing Ive got help b/c I was beginning to think id just use the stubs in the front tires and make it RWD lol
