its only taken me 6 years to do it.

i wanna say on the old boards i had 500 or so posts in about a year or two, but that was back when i first built my car and was recording everything.

megasquirt harness partially completed. direct clip in style. ill be removing all the extra wires once i get the turbo stuff installed. Im going to be rerouting the pin-outs on the factory harness and connecting new things with the existing wire-harness (since the factory clips in the harness can be switched around in seconds with just a small screwdriver).

once i get the extra stuff all ready for the turbo install ill be eliminating the VAF (vane airflow meter) and distributor and installing my Kia COP's (coil on plugs), Miata CAS/CPS. I need to double check my kia COP's to see if they have built-in ignitors (i think they might, saving some time and wiring, allowing the MS unit to directly control the COP's for wasted spark output).

other than that and adding in a pin to the harness for the LC-1 wideband O2 input it should be good to go. I still need to go to tires plus and get some tubing bent up (they are also a Muffler Center) for the intake/intercooler plumbing and dig around to find the old BOV i pulled off my 3000GT VR4 from back in the day and i should be good to go.

Oh yeah, anyone else know MS very well? can i plug n play low impedence injectors or will i have to use resistors to bring them up to par for MS utilization? Ill dig around on MS forums but maybe someone will be me to the answer Ive got RX7 550cc injectors but they measure out to i think like 3-4 ohm or something like that? been a while but i do remember they are low imp.

research indicates that my Kia COP (they are actually only 2 coils, each one feeds 2 cyls but sits over 1 plug with a wire to the next) do not have built in ignitors (2 wire input on the clips seems pretty obvious.

so i need to source a pair of ignitors. one will be the one already on my car that drives the stock coil, the 2nd will come from another parts festiva i have laying back home.

EDUCATION BIT: for those who dont know, the ignitor is just a big transistor, the ECU generally cant supply enough current to directly drive a coil for ignition (digital electronics run off a 5v power source in your ECU, coils require the full 12v to trigger) so you use an ignitor to take a small input current from the ECU to trigger a switch that flows a larger current.

The wasted spark setup is a reference to how the ignition fires. In wasted spark (which many cars run off as factory design) you have a coil that drives 2 cyls, firing at the same time, hence the wasted spark. 2 coils 2 ignitors and my Miata CAS wired up and i should have ignition all sorted.

Also, need to throw some mods on the MS unit itself for the COP ignition control. Ill probably do that this weekend if homework allows.

for cop's i would get a set of the toyota cops, if you got on miataturbo.net you can read about the swap and probably find a set for 80 or so.

I already have the Kia COP's though. They just require an external ignitor to fire each of them.

got the MS unit to finally read properly tonight, got some settings worked on and junk. tomorrow i head to the JY for a new tank, maybe some extra tidbits (may snag some extra COP's and ignitors) and then its back to the garage to get this thing going!

Also, i need a coolant pipe off a B8 (it has a branch off tube that i can use as a coolant return line).
