  • Big plenum short runners. Maybe itbs but most likely just a big single tb.

Might weld a plate between the two to strengthen it but its pretty much done.

    • These showed up a few days ago.

Really needed a break so I put all of my customer stuff on hold and worked on the mounts again. Got the back done and figured out a plan for the passenger side.

              • Opinions? Im wondering if I should eliminate the link at the control arm and just weld the traction bar directly to it. I think that if I left the link in, it would let the control arm twist and bind.

                • if you weld it, it's gonna break. keep both Heim joints on the traction bar, this will allow the LCA to move as it needs to through the full range of suspention travel.

other than that, i like what you've done there! removing the front sway bar is the first step to a better handling Festy.

                  • I just went ahead and welded it. Seems to move smoothly through the full range.

                    • Good to see you back man. Your work is looking good, nice and solid. I would have left heims on both ends so adjustments could be made without unbolting. Are those 323 ball joints?

                      • Thanks man. Yeah I wanted to leave that heim in but I think if I did the lca would twist and would allow the wheel to move front to back. If it does that it'd wheel hop and I'd have done all this work for nothing.

New bracket and old sway bar bracket.

                        Finished the other side.

                        • given the geometry, i don't see how the LCA could twist or move in a way that would allow hop. the strut rod would also have to move in the tube and that means a damaged strut. those heim joints don't allow much in the way of compressive movement (which is what you'd see when the tire goes under load). plus adding the second joint will give you CASTER adjustment (good thing).

                          • Caster is still adjustable at the front joint.

                            Comment

                            • If the second heim was in the traction bar connected to front of the lca it would allow the front of the lca to rotate up or down where that heim would be attached. Instead of using a bushing where the lca connects to the frame rail im using a heim joint that would allow it to rotate. When you say compressive movement do you mean up and down over bumps?

And resuwrecked those are bf 323 ball joints. If these control arms work I'll probably redo them and try to come up with a taller ball joint to help correct bumpsteer/roll center.

                              • compressive in lateral movement (front to back). ok and now i see what you're talking about with the LCA... i was assuming a nylon or poly bushing at the frame rail connection point, not a heim joint.
