Re: shorestiva crys havoc and lets slip the hogs of war
Left is 97 escort right is kia. I wanted the longer final drive like my cable g series has. But the early g series has thinner gears and I'm not sure if they'll drop into a later case. The solution is the 97 escort trans. The bellhousing is for a Ford 2.0 sohc so you have to take the gearset and swap it into a case that will bolt to a b series in this case a kia one. Then I add in the mfactory diff from my cable trans so it all will work with my gt halfshaft and axles.

^^thats what I plan to do with my KL trans one day, whenever I feel like getting to it lol
But the EGT and cable G series trans each have the same ring/pinion gear thickness, once you confirm that for yourself, I'd be interested in the 97+ escort transLast edited by Damkid; 02-27-2013, 01:05 PM.

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Bunch of goodies have been showing up lately.
Test fitting the new radiator
And found out that hydro trans have different mounting points than cable.:banghead:
The back mount will bolt up to the trans but aparently the case dimensions are different and now it wont clear the rack.Better Than Nothing Racing

thats a kick in the bolts.... lets hope its not to hard to fix the mounts...
sweet rad, that should keep it nice and cool any reason for a full width rad and not a half rad like a civic one? mine has no problems keeping my bpt cool...

Re: shorestiva crys havoc and lets slip the hogs of war
I'll use the kia trans I said.... it'll be easy I said
So last night I swapped my mfactory diff into the kia case so I could put my axles in and position everything to start on the new brackets. Once I tried to put the halfshaft in it became very clear why nothing is lining up. For some reason they rotated the back of the trans down an inch compared to the older cable trans. So now the halfshaft hits part of the oil pan right by where it goes into the diff. Also it won't bolt to the block anymore. The holes are an inch off and its closer to the block so when the bottom of the bracket is touching the block the top is angled out a good 1/4-1/2". The only up side to all this is that if you put the axles in the same spot as before the motor now sits about 1/2" further back and 1" higher.
