I remember when I did my BP swap I had plenty of room for the alt..... My guess is that it's just how you have it mounted, have you thought about modifying your mounts to tilt the engine more forward to give more alt clearance?

Thats part of plan B. Somehow Ive got to get the belt on the pulley before I mount the alt. No room to slip it on after its mounted. Crazy !

If you go too far back with a bigger belt the alt pulley will hit the frame rail. The distance between the frame get smaller as you get closer to the fire wall, at least on the festiva.

I thought about that but it would require some wire harness changes.

My other problem is that I cant get the lower alt bolt in because of my mid shaft bracket. Im going to have to come from right to left under the fender to get a bolt in. Of course the festiva alt is threaded on the right so Ill have to bore out the threads and just use a long bolt and nut to secure the bottom of the alt.

It definately helps to walk away sometimes, I wish I could spend enough time with my car to get that mad at it lol.. Instead I have days to look at it and think before I can touch it. :\

I couldnt get the alt. to mount up the other day, I had to walk away from it for awhile. There seems to be a snag at every turn. I did go to town and found a 5" X 3/8" bolt I was needing for alt. plan B . I might try something this weekend. Ill have to loosen the motor mounts to install a different belt. Ive only got about a 1/4"-3/8" between the crank bolt and the frame rail.

Dawn Power Clean, scrub brush, and a trip to the car wash didn't get my firewall that clean!

Since Festus will never be the Prima Festarossa of the MidWest, I've decided to paint'eem Ford Blue. The company I work for uses Ford Blue as their official color, so we have plenty around. It's a shade lighter, "almost, but not quite Ford Blue" according to the ex-owners.

OT; but "my" company was just bought by a large AG company from China. They say "nothing is going to change, and that the Chineese folks aren't even going to come look at our facility. How weird! Ha So Kemosobbie
