I'm following this all the way...everything looks great!

Thanks for the Steve Earle link...Copperhead Road.

I'd recommend leaving the front cover off the engine. I run without them on all my OHC motors, even my econo Metro. The advantages are manys, and the draw backs few. My Suzuki was the 1st to lose it's cover about 10 years ago. I've never had any problem. An immediate visual inspect of the cam belt far out weighs the risk of debris getting in there. Leaks can be tracked. One less step in any maintenance. And it looks super cool! Especially on a DOHC. You might have to fab a timing degree set up, if you plan on using a timing light. I can never read stock timing tabs anyway, and haven't used a timing light on my OHC motors.

Note To Zoom Zoom: I fell for the temptation on the Harbor Freight sandblaster. It requires a much larger compressor than advertised. All sand blasters are this way. The ceramic tip wears from the material going thru and the air flow goes way up. It makes a huge mess where ever you use it. It does work though, if you have access to 12CFM @ 50psi compressor.

Rear tranny mount fab. The first picture is the stock mounts, the bottom one is the EGT. I cut the part that bolts to the tranny off of both mounts and combined them in the bottom picture for a new hybrid mount. Will it work ? Beats me, looks like it should. It can be adjusted some prior to welding.

Fresh, you'll run festiva's lca if you have festiva or aspire brakes. Or run aspire's lcas if you have capri brakes.

Have to stop for awhile, got behind working on the car. I'll be back. I think the next step is to ream out the bolt holes on the upper festiva mount, I need about 1/4" more for the mount to align with the mount bracket on the car.

    Updates:
Before I quit yesterday I trimmed and glued in the timing belt dust cover gasket. Those darn things !! It held long enough to get the cover bolted on. Hopefully I wont have to take it back off to get the right side motor mount to work.

Made a couple of brackets for the festiva water pipe. Its good and solid now. Plugged off the extra nipple. As you can see in the second pic of the bracket I also got the festiva fuel injection harness installed too. ( see it ? ) Also note the oxygen sensor hole in on the wrong side of the header.

Got the 1993 Festiva pulleys on.

Got the VICs and PRC plugs ready to go

Difference between the EGT and the 1993 Festiva pulleys.

Tomorrow I’ll try to get the mid shaft worked out. It doesn’t quite turn to plump so I guess I’ll have to weld a piece on that will be angled enough to bring it to plumb. Anyone else experience this ? After that I guess Im ready to lower it in to the engine bay and fashion some mounts. Been at it a week now.

You're fine. I use a wire wheel attachment on my drill for some things. Just clamp the part in the vise and get after it.

Pretty sure all my parts are already degreased, and clean. I've put in quite a bit of elbow grease on everything...EVERYTHING.. I just want to avoid the last couple paint experiences where it flakes off 2 days later, and a sandblaster would prep the surface for paint wouldn't it?

^ you need to have things degreased before blasting, otherwise you'll be pushing grease into pores of the metal and it'll be harder to remove and impossible to paint.

also you dont want to use sand... glass bead or walnut shells work better (prefer the shells as it's biodegradeable and it's not glass...)

My aspire pipe fit on my Mazda BP fine, I test fitted it before I tore it down. I don't know what the difference is or which one to use yet.

I've been thinking about getting a pressure regualtor and the cheepo sandblaster from harbor freight, I need a good way to get stuff clean..dawn power dissolver works great, but a sandblaster would make it absolutely spotless I think..and a good surface to paint on.

Is it duplicolor high heat paint? I don't know how well it will hold up, and I've had bad experiences with painting lately.

Its a stock water pump. My water pipe came from a 1989 Auto, dont know if thats the difference or not. Ill have to compare it to another festiva pipe.
