  • Two quick thoughts...

My Festiva didn't hunker down with the Aspire springs, even after 2 weeks of driving. But I have a big battery and other stuff in the rear. Fantastiva may do fine.

A push fan will work just fine. I've read that the same size fan will move more air in the pull position, than it would in the push position, but this really won't make any difference.

I only have aspire shocks in the rear for the higher spring perch. The front struts are new but stock. All the springs are off of a low mileage (54,000) stock festiva. Id still like to lower it to level out my axles some.

          • Dawn Power Clean, scrub brush, and a trip to the car wash didn't get my firewall that clean!

Since Festus will never be the Prima Festarossa of the MidWest, I've decided to paint'eem Ford Blue. The company I work for uses Ford Blue as their official color, so we have plenty around. It's a shade lighter, "almost, but not quite Ford Blue" according to the ex-owners.

OT; but "my" company was just bought by a large AG company from China. They say "nothing is going to change, and that the Chineese folks aren't even going to come look at our facility. How weird! Ha So Kemosobbie

I couldnt get the alt. to mount up the other day, I had to walk away from it for awhile. There seems to be a snag at every turn. I did go to town and found a 5" X 3/8" bolt I was needing for alt. plan B . I might try something this weekend. Ill have to loosen the motor mounts to install a different belt. Ive only got about a 1/4"-3/8" between the crank bolt and the frame rail.

                      • What happens to the top mount for the alt with your motor mount spaced away from the block? Will you just end up with a bigger belt?

It definately helps to walk away sometimes, I wish I could spend enough time with my car to get that mad at it lol.. Instead I have days to look at it and think before I can touch it. :\

The Escort alt just barely hit the spaced out top mount. I tried the festiva alt, its missing a bulge found on the escort alt., I think it will work. My other problem is that I cant get the lower alt bolt in because of my mid shaft bracket. Im going to have to come from right to left under the fender to get a bolt in. Of course the festiva alt is threaded on the right so Ill have to bore out the threads and just use a long bolt and nut to secure the bottom of the alt.

Tried possibly relocating the alt to the front of the car? I believe there's either a PS or AC bracket that naturally belongs there, wouldn't be too hard to bend a steel bracket or two to bolt on for the lower alt bolt, then move the upper bracket and line it up to another open boss.

If you go too far back with a bigger belt the alt pulley will hit the frame rail. The distance between the frame get smaller as you get closer to the fire wall, at least on the festiva.

I thought about that but it would require some wire harness changes.
