  • Hodginsa's First Festy

Here she is, my first festiva, just drove it home from FestivaBob's House.

Can wait to start working on it.

I will hopefully be cluttering this thread with progress.

      Thanks!

Right now plans are new tires, a nice coat of paint. Solid stock driving condition.
Its going to be my new DD for awhile so I want it in tip top shape.

Thanks guys. First to take care of some initial mind easing maintenance(I'm neurotic like that). Balljoints and tie rods. Also noticed the fan was on all the time and takes forever to heat up(doesn't get above 1/4 temp either). So I unplugged the fan temp switch, stuck a wire in it and grounded it, sure enough the fan stopped. Also heard about needing a two stage thermostat, so I got one of those. Surprisingly the part site I used ended up having the one that is actually two stage(I hope, cause it pictures a two stage while the rest were 1), but not OEM.

              Just ordered some parts:

              Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Gasket
Front Lower Suspension Control Arm x 2
              Engine Coolant Thermostat
              Lower Radiator Coolant Hose
              Upper HVAC Heater Hose
              PCV Valve
              PCV Valve Grommet
              Engine Coolant Fan Temperature Switch
              Radiator Cap
Front Outer Steering Tie Rod End x 2
Suspension Stabilizer Bar Bushing Kit x 2

Anyone know how to do a rad flush with no hose? haha

Says the guy in the middle of a BP swap :-P

In your defense though you have kept more Festiva's stock and in tip-top shape than most members on the board have ever owned lol.

BTW Hodgins, nice Volvo pics on your site! Is it yours? I want a white 242 and a black 240 wagon. And maybe a red 780 to go with them lol.

That BP swap is starting to reinforce my stock preference. I had to walk away from it a couple of days ago when the alt. wouldnt mount. There is a snag at every stage. Im reluctant to get back at it.

Thanks, Yeah it was mine for 6 years, first car, just sold it a few months ago... After two years I turbo'd it, then another year later I Megasquirted it. It was my MS'd DD for 3+ years.

I really miss that car. It stuck it out through all the others(I've owned a lot of cars).Hopefully the festy will fill the void.

Haha you think a BP festiva's engine bay is tight........ At least you don't need to pull the front bumper to even access the alternator lol

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Wow, no options whatsoever. I dig the standard feature list. It has a tethered gas cap, woohoo. Love these cars

Replace the bypass hose before you drive it! Broke 2 with near-disastrous results.
