Wouldnt mind getting some more details about this swap. Its kind of the direction I was leaning. Since its doesnt make more power than the stock tranny can handle. :thumbleft:

The swap was really straight forward. I pulled the motor and the trans together out the top. Swapped the engine harness to the b3 harness, relocated the temp plug on the b3 harness(took 2 minutes, no splicing). grinded an area on the back where the axle contacts the oilpan(very easy). Swapped out the b8 motor mount for the b3 mount. Dropped the motor and trans back in. Kept the b8 alternator, pulley, thermostat, coolant pipes. You'll need to swap the temp plugs on the front of the block, and thermostat housing. You'll need to drill a new hole for the motor mount, right next to the oem hole.

Yeah its about an inch longer than the b3. Plenty of room for turbo stuff, and I will be utilizing that extra room pretty soon lol.

I swapped the ecu from the donor car as well as the vaf. Not sure if the vaf was nessecary, but I did it anyway.

if it looks diffrent, has a diffrent part number stamped in to it, or is a newer part, just swap it... its eaiser to do when your in the middle of doing all the work... not when everything is all back together and then it wont start or run right...

It's alive!!!! Started it up this morning, sounds great! Way healthier than the b3 that came out. Now I'm off to get an exhaust fabbed up. This open header is a tad loud lol!

2 inch should be the easiest size to work with..

Very nice you will love it. I love my b8, and I second the side exit. I have a cat into a cherry bomb then a side exit right before the pass rear wheel. It's pretty quiet while cruising not annoying at all and sounds great!

Thats actually exactly the setup I've had for years lol. But now my car is too low for that to work.

Looks like a new clutch is in order....

Me driving to the muffler shop, feathering the gas making the clutch slip...still open header. :eeeeeek:
