  • Got started on the blueprinting process. Got everything done except the rod caps, the inside micrometer would not go small enough so have to find my uncles telescoping gauges. All the bearing clearances are within spec so looking good... the cylinder bore to piston clearance is @ 3 thousandths, matt said he wanted me to have 2 thousandths so im calling him today to make sure thats ok but my guess is it is fine.

Yeah I like it though... It was actually designed by the same guy who did some lamborghini designs and did the delorean. Also svx was the first car to go into production exactly the same as the concept vehicle, which is kinda cool

Giorgetto Giugiaro is one of my heroes. He was an AMAZING designer. He was actually named designer of the century. The SVX is like they said on American Top Gear "The car of tomorrow, that was made 20 years ago..."

Yes it is. It's actually a really cool car, I bought it with a blown front diff and didn't want to pay the money for the same tranny so found out that the legacy and outback tranny are exactly the same except the gear ratios were different, svx has 3.57 and legacy and outback had either 4.11 or 4. 44 so I went with the 4.11 then had to use outback rear end 4.11 and swap the ring onto my center section because svx has a vc limited slip. Then spin the gears and make sure pattern is correct. Turned out good has good torque now.

                      • Got a decent amount done today... done with blueprinting other then the valve to piston clearance. Today i started with the ring end gap.
                        checking ring end gap

Filing ring to open up gap

cleaned up and ready to begin assembly

                        Rings installed

                        bearings in

                        crank installed

                        Torqued

Now need to check crank end play

                        .006 looking good

                        Lubed and ready

                              • What is that you smeared on the cylinder walls? Lubriplate 105? Never seen that done before.
What clearance did you end up with on the mains and rods?
