        Hey Julian,
Ambitious build, even if not as exotic as originally planned.
Super deal on the rebuilt eng/tran
The Temp sensor in the thermostat housing is a switch sensor for the rad fan in the B6T. There is usually a Temp sensor for the ecu in the intake manifold of many designs, is there not one on the Miata intake?
I can borrow a drill bit for you from work, but need to know the size. Email me with it.

          Hey Jed,
Thanks! should be entertaining and sufficiently quick. And thanks for the offer for the drill-bit but i just bought one. Drilling for 3/8NPT will be pretty common in the future.

and on the miata intake there is no place for the green ecu temp sensor. I have to drill/tap it somewhere on the head or make a fitting attached to the intake manifold.

So, thanks to members on this forum, there is a possible way to run a miata intake manifold on a b6T. Also, stumbled on the best and cheapest way to do a coolant reroute on a 1.6 miata:

                drill tap 3/8npt

drill tap fitting for green temp plug:

painted the block and some other random bits aswel

i cant wait to see how you do your coolant route, for the small 1/8 line under the throttle body we planed on blocking those off, they where just for circulating the coolant through the throttle body. Do you have any more details on the fittings your using? size? part number?

I'm blocking those off aswell, and sorry what did you mean by how i'm doing my coolant route?

Which fittings would you like to know about?

Well, did some painting today. Turbro manifold and oil pan were a success. Valve cover was a complete and utter failure.

                      pics tomo.

mighty sexual picture of my block, blurry to sensor the sexyness. (or because cellphone quality sucks)

                        exhaust manifold coated
                        .

Drilled tapped and painted for some -10an goodness.

Valve cover was a disaster, failed hard. time to strip and repeat damn.

Why would anyone make fun of what you're doing? Laughing at a the need of a rework on the valve cover of an engine that's already awesome is like making fun of a skyscraper because someone accidentally broke a window in the penthouse. Both are awesome, because the valve cover can be reworked, and you can throw paper air planes out of the skyscraper. Win win, FTW!
