Did you weld that log? Looks pretty good from what we can see.You get the idle settled down? VAF sitting fairly flat?

Vaf is not flat but it is sitting at less than a 45 degree angle. Here is how it generally sits.

I dont have alot lying around as far as plumbing is concerned so I made due with a piece of the aspire intake piping and a piece of the festys piping.

I know it can also cause a crap idle but im sure the old gas isn't helping.

I saw in another build thread the vacuum line that ran into the intake(from behind the engine) should just be plugged off?

Update on the idle I have added 3/4 tank fresh gas and a half can of seafoam. It idles a lot better now. And by a lot better I mean at least its idling. Wooo. I still need to fix a few vacuum lines and put in this Cheepie vacuum gauge to see how she is really doing.

So here is a photo. And my next problem.

I ran out of vacuum line. Ill be able to clean it up some soon.

              Here is my problem.

While installing stuff I got mad at the pipe cause it was getting in the way of doing the oil pan gasket so I cut it off. Which is fine I guess because it didn't line up anyways. Im working on a cheap solution. Ill have more photos probally tomorrow night.

Well here it is. Gotta make do or make do do. It will hold till I can save to get something done right.

I cut out a section of pipe. Cut a slit in it and joined the two...

Found an oil leak. No bueno. Its coming from the t for the turbo drain. I should have used plumbers tape or something. It looks to be coming more from the side if the oil pressure sensor

This crap idle is bugging me. Ideas please. I made a sound recording but I can't upload it. It just sounds like noise anyways. Will the vaf sitting at like a 40 degree angle cause this.

Is the idle too high or low? Or is it fluctuating constantly?
How does it behave when revved up?

The vaf sitting on that angle wouldn't help. Its mounted flat from the factory to prevent gravity from affecting its operation. I think having it on an angle would throw its accuracy out.
I don't know if this is causing your idle problem. But I would still fix it so it doesn't cause other problems down the track.

Its idling real low. Like almost dying. Sometimes it idles eith the cel on. After I push the gas a bit it goes away. I sprayed wd 40 on the vacuum lines and I disconnected the plug wires one by one to check for variance in the idle.

The engine shakes something fierce too. Anything above idle is fine. It sounds like itv always has

How's the timing? Have you tried to advance it a little?

I have not. I don't currently have access to a timing light.

Where is your idle valve getting air from? This needs to be a metered source. If it's open to atmosphere or blocked off completely then you're car won't run right. Also, have you tried adjusting the idle screw?
