OK, did the dyno run. These guys definitely knew what they were doing. Even put a wideband sniffer up the tailpipe, so we got good AFR numbers too.
In post #5, I reported 91.7 HP on a Mustang dyno. Today's run was on a Dynomax machine, and gave different readings. I will post up the pics later today or tmw. But basically the HP/TQ numbers were all around 82-86. The best run overall was 85.83 HP, 85.16 TQ.
I was disappointed that it didn't break 100, and had (very unrealistically, in hindsight) expected about 115! Basically what Matt did was turn a B3 into a B6D, which makes 100 HP (crank, not wheel). I had thought that he had turned it into a BP, but alas it was not to be.
The dyno chart also shows that my butt-dyno needs recalibration. I thought that, on the street, power was still building at the 6200 RPM fuel shutoff, when in actuality power was starting to go down about 5700 RPM; altho at 6200 it was still pulling hard, just not as hard.
So taking 54 WHP as stock for the B3 (63 HP - 15% friction losses), what we have here is a 59% improvement over stock. Turboing it would presumably give me another 50% or so over the 86 HP, i.e. about 129 WHP.
I'm not motivated to have Greg run it at the 1/4 anymore, since it won't make any spectacular numbers. I'll still do a MPG test on the way down to visit him, because I'm curious about that. But I'm thinking what I will end up doing is selling Matthew to finance stuff done to other cars.
I have ~$2500 into him now, and am taking the best offer via PM. Some pics are on the 2nd page of this thread.Last edited by TominMO; 03-11-2014, 01:39 PM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
