Starting a thread on Matthew, for tmw's dyno run and general upgrading.

    So far I have added:
MX-3 seats; they look practically new
Protege center console (front half) mated to MX-3 rear half (providing a useful armrest and two compartments)
    blue Escort dome light
    variable intermittent wipers
    cargo shelf (thanks Karl/sc72)
actual working headlights (also from Karl)
    painted parts-car hatch white
next to come is a good windshield (also thanks to Karl)
and then a working parking brake

Pics tmw, along with dyno-run info.
90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
09 Kia Rondo--a Festy on steroids!

Yep he did! This car needed a lot to make it a civilized car. I am mostly there now.

Forgot to mention the JY springs and struts I added (for now), to replace the totally dead struts and cut-in-half springs that were on there, from the PO before Matt. Rear struts are near-new Festy Monroes; fronts are better-than-nothing Aspire struts/springs. They measure only about 1/2 inch taller at the wheelwell apex than my Festy springs/Festy KYB struts on Larry, with the same tires/wheels on both cars.

OK peeps, I want to go eat lunch and then I need to hit the JY while we have this 65-degree weather today (snowing tmw), but wanted to get this up first.
          Mustang dyno
          93 octane gas
          185/60x14 tires on aluminum rims
          Result: 91.7 HP
They were not able to measure torque because they need to synch their machine with my tach, which I didn't have. Also, the dyno guy said if I had used the rear tires on the dyno (155/80x13 on steelies), it would have broken 100 HP. Furthermore, if I had remembered to fuel up on ethanol instead of premium, that would have helped significantly too. So I am taking this as a worst-case number, with best case being ~105. I can add a tach, switch wheels and use ethanol, no probs there; but do I want to spend another $75 just to make it happen?

The shop guys were highly amused, and had a who-buys-lunch bet on it breaking 100.

Pics to come later tonight (including the printout).

What dyno did Matt have it on when he posted the following?

Between different dynos, different fuel, and a different operator, I'd say 135 crank isn't too far fetched.

EDIT: And aren't the Mustangs called dream killers or something like that?

Maybe you can start taking donations on another Dynoday once you get some things figured out...

The shop owner said that Mustang dynos give real-world numbers, compared to the Dynojet dynos which read higher. I believe the dyno at Beach Dyno (near Greg in FL) was a Dynojet. Casper ran 108 HP, my B6rt ran 111 (both on pump gas IIRC). But if those numbers are higher than if they were run on a Mustang dyno, then it sounds like all three cars are in the same ballpark.

The shop here gave us torque numbers. Iirc Skimsucka, with my old b8 (16v) made 97whp.

Good numbers for a b3 for sure. Turbo that thing....200whp b3...=....win!

... and that B3 will have the rods vomited out faster than a runway model 2 minutes before show time.

It was turboed before, and made 200+ IIRC, but IDK how long he had it turboed. Mighta just done it, got a dyno reading, and shortly thereafter sold the turbo off it.

Coulda done an MPG test today, either on Matthew or Danny (68 degrees outside right now!), but too busy. Decided to take advantage of the weather to snag a parking brake cable at the JY, since Matthew's is broken.

haha, missed your flavorful way of putting things Don.

Does this B3 have the DAE rods in it?
