  • Well it's been a while but I finally put my rear suspension together.

    Compersons to stock

Here's the tire clearence to shock with 185 tires and them set all the way up. I had to space mt shock in other wise they wouldn't even clear.
I used the thick washer that came with the thick washer that came with the vw kyb's.

I also swapped out my energy suspension bushings and aluminum plate for some bushings from the festiva store.
I was tired of my sway bar hanging so low I had to watch parking blocks.

    • It handles lots better with little to no body role.
Only thing I'm not liking is my breaks they feel rear Bias.
Im not sure if I have air in my system after my miata booster swap or what but I've bleed them 3 times now.

      • You have checked the rear brake adjusters and they are moving completely freely and are setting te brakes correctly? And your handbrake is properly adjusted? A handbrake adjusted too tight can mask the auto adjusters not working properly.

        • Yeah I just completely redid the rear drums new shoes springs and all maybe I got them adjuted to tight.
I set them where the drum would just go on. My drivers side was slightly dragging though and it was set all the way loose.
I'll readjust when I throw in fresh bearings.
My breaks are feeling better after a few miles and some hard breaking I think the fronts where rusted and glazed from setting.

          • Well finely got some time to work on my wheels 14x6 enkiki's I got them from festivafred. Thanks fredword!
He had them painted a gun metal gray. They looked good besides the got scratched when he had tires put on.
So I stripped them for some new paint and to polish the lip.
I'm going the same color as my tool box and I think it will look nice on the silver.

That's after the paint striper .
Now some 180 to take out the nicks and the sandblasting.

            Almost out!

And now almost done with the 180.

            • Such a weird way to drill 2 bolt patterns, I wonder why they did that.
Those wheels will look awesome painted that blue color.

              • Yeah I thought it was strange they were so close together. I can't find information on those wheels anywhere fred said he couldn't either. But I think they look great, there also pretty light.

                  • Took it to 400 tonight.
Its time consuming but it's coming along.

Now that I got the sand blasting sanded out these next step will go much faster.

                    • Took advantage of this nice weather and did a little work on the festiva.
Painted up some spare drums and put in the taurus studs.
Used a 1/2 inch drill bit to drill out the threads

I used a 4 inch grinder to make the seating area flat ish
It's not perfect but the best I could do with what I have

Here'sthe part numberif anyone is interested

                      • These studs are press fitted?

                        • Yep pulled the first set in with a lugnut and stack of washers.
But used 2 hammers to set the next set. It went much faster then the washers, but one could use washers and an impact to make it easier.

                              • It was a nice day today so I painted my wheels.
I decided not to polish the lip. I paint one up that I had polished and didn't carefor it so I painted it all.
Here's two done baking in the sun on the roof rack.

                                And a close up.

They turned out better than I thought they would. But I'm pretty picky.
