I made a little more progress on Pedro over the weekend. The wiring is all wrapped up (pun intended) and I was able to start the final assembly on everything in the engine bay.

The manual N/A capri ECU I got from Rob is in it's new home. The harness is tucked away along the edge of the sound deadener material.

The engine harness goes through the passenger side fender well. The other wire going into the grommet is my wideband 02 sensor wire.

I added an extra clamp on the drivers side. I like my wiring to be supported well. I also wrapped the harness with friction tape where it passes behind the fenders. A lille extra protection.

Since Pedro needed a new master cylinder, I installed a new master cylinder and booster for a 99 miata. 1 port needed to be plugged, but the rest of the miata master cylinder fits just like the festiva one did. The brake lines fit perfectly without any bending required.
In the above picture, you can also see that the crappy fusable link box has been replaced by a Capri fuse box. I also had to move the coolant overflow reservoir back a bit to allow clearance for the Capri airbox. You can see the support bracket I made under the reservoir.

Here are the finished airbox brackets in place.

New K&N filter in the Capri box.

The Capri airbox and intake fit better than they do in a Capri, lol. The filter is easy to remove and there is clearance all around the box.

The one on my miata b6 has a v belt pulley, and a 4 rib belt pulley attached to each other. It looked like it had some weathered rubber like piece inside of the rib belt part. I would assume you could get some softer rubber like filler and fill the rest of the open space in, make more harmonics absorption properties

It's the accessory pulley from a b6d mx3. It's used. I got it from a car at a salvage yard a few years ago . It may be the same pulley as what's on many ribbed belt b6 powered Mazda cars, but I don't know that for sure. I'll get a picture of it today.

I put a balancer from an Mx3 with the b6d on this car, and the festy flywheel is very close to the weight of an NA miata flywheel so I'm thinking this car won't be real hard on trannies. It's not always the TQ that kills transmissions, more often than not it's the harmonics. This car will have the softest mounts I can use without wheel hop. A lot of tranny killing cars are BP with lightened flywheels and no balancer or the wrong balancer pulley and solid motor mounts. That is a recipe for tranny destruction.
Was it a brand new balance? And does the balance mean just the whole belt drive assembly that attaches to the crank?

Haha. Yeah, I'll get a video of it next weekend. I was surprised that it was pretty much dialed in right off the bat. I had to adjust the throttle stop and fiddle with the idle a bit, but my rough gustimate at distributor position was spot on 14 degrees initial advance. I got lucky. Right now Pedro just has a down pipe, so it's a bit loud. I haven't put the exhaust back up yet because I still have to poly fill my shifter assembly before I put it back in. I'll try to get that done this week. I've also been following Tom and Bryant's conversation about short shifters and I may modify my shift lever and replace the bushings with shoulder bolts like I did on Tweak and Larry (my XR2). I did a write up on that a couple years ago. I'll have to dig that up to refresh my memory on my shopping list.

    Big News Today Folks!
Pedro started up and ran today. At first I had that crusty automatic ECM in there and I wasn't getting fuel. Then I swapped in the Manual ECM that I got from Shadetree and bam! fired right up and ran like a Swiss watch. I didn't take video because my phone was charging in the truck. That makes it official. Pedro is now running. Now I just have to put the rest of the car back together and I can test drive it. The rear beam is still off, and the exhaust and the front fenders. Also, the column, steering wheel, seats, and shifter assembly need to be put back in. But it runs! Haha

Easy for you to say (on the fabbing part). Too true on the other topic!
