  • BP-turbo automatic build

Guess I could put something on here for those that aren't following the facebook page.

    This is the car

and this is where its at as of tonight...

Basically all the stuff off my old BP turbo car is going on.

Running stratified MS and 360cc BPT injectors. We will see how long the ~80k mile BP and ~120k mile ATX will handle it for.

What do you expect to explode first?

I'm sure the motor will last. I'll prolly be blowing out old seals first. The trans has an occasional sloppy 1-2 shift when its hot. Who knows.

That 1-2 shift can be fixed with some adjustment to the vacuum control. Dragonhealer spent a bunch of time messing with that on his autotragic cars.
My theory is that the bp will last longer with an auto due to the nice fluid dampener you've got hanging off the pto side of that piston pump.

Any details? Jim told me something about it could be a leaky drum or something or other.

That was last year right after I washed and waxed the crap out of it lol. And the HDR setting on the camera worked some magic too lol.

Started plumbing today. Got the trans cooler done.

Put the trans temp sender inline with the "hot" cooler hose

Compressor outlet to IC inlet. These are all parts from my old turbo car. They dont exactly fit the same way in this one....

Lower rad hose is kinda jammed in there between the IC inlet and downpipe. I plan to get some exhaust wrap on there to help protect the hose.

Lower rad hose coming out of the radiator. Having the rad outlet on the side would make this so much better.

                      IC outlet

BOV on the cold side pipe. I flipped this pipe around from when it was on the old car.

And so now I will need an elbow here

Also installed my trans temp gauge in the EGT console

I switched the included light bulb out for a white LED, but put the green filter over it

I'll ask Ryal what he did exactly. Maybe he'll do a little write up on it. His B6d Auto shifts awesome and he drives the thing like a manual trans all the time. It's pretty quick.

That'd be cool if I can tighten this one up a bit until I get around to using my rebuilt one. I already plan to do the governor mod to raise the shift points a bit. Right now at WOT it shifts at 4800 or so which is way too low.

First off, OMG that car is BEAUTIFUL ! Hope you don't mind I saved the picture.

I don't know all the ins and outs of the ATX, but after doing all the routine stuff to no availl, (still up shifted too early)
I installed a new vacuum module (Purolator MV337), and turned the adjusting screw in 1/2 turn at a time until it no longer
raised the shift point, and left it there. The improvement was massive, but still won't go to redline!
                            No car too fast !

Dang. The vacuum modulator is pretty much impossible to get to now that I just put the radiator and everything back on the front of the car.
