Thanks dudes! Charlie, dad sold his oval so no pics of the two together :/
I've been on the lookout for another Festiva. I'd really like to find a clean silver, 5 speed, 92/93 GL Sport with A/C that has the red pinstripe interior. Have a build idea in mind for when this one is done. I've decided to sell the Miata and get another Festiva to replace it so I'd like to I find one fairly soon. Dad has always said "you can't special order a used car" so I'll probably end up piecing one together.'88 L- B6d-Sidedraft Dellorto Carbs-G-Series-Advanced Suspension

Bought another '88 yesterday to drive while the first one is apart. It's an LX with A/C. I'll do the full Advanced Suspension setup on, a NB Miata booster/master cylinder, and swap the Escort wheels on. I may try splitting the fenders and practice building the widebody on this car so I can get the proportions right before cutting into the first '88. The body is pretty rough so no big loss if I screw it up.

I found this pic a while back and I really like the simple flares on this one. It's basically the shape that's already there just mildly widened. I want to keep somewhat of an OEM styling theme so I think this would suit the car well.

I forgot to post that I bought a '92 around a months ago. Not really sure what it started life as; it currently has '88/89 LX seats, power mirrors, a L hatch, and A/C. It's been wrecked so the shell is toast, but it runs and has some good parts on it. Not bad for $150 bucks. I already picked the power mirrors, outside door handle, and speakers to go on the '88 LX. I'll start a separate thread for the LX to keep from clogging this one up.

I'm off work all week so I pulled the blue '88 into the shop to finish making the engine/trans mounts.
Started by pulling the Capri b6t out and pressure washing the engine compartment.
Then set it up level to within about 1/2* on jack stands.
Pulled the timing cover, belt, water pump, alternator, and Capri engine mount bracket off so I could mount the B3 bracket with spacers. It's spaced 2.125" from the block, and there is a 3/8" spacer between the bracket and the mount to match the 3/8" dropped trasmission crossmember.
I had an Energy Suspension urethane GM transmission mount laying around for my '66 C10 so I grabbed it and thought I might could make it work. Ended up buying another at Oreilly and used them for the front and rear trans mounts.
Rear mount bolted in the factory hole. I'd rather it been turned 90* but it interfered with the shift linkage that way.
Engine leveled, and squared front to back, then I tacked the factory Capri trans mount bracket to the spacer plate that comes with the E/S urethane mount.
Pulled the rear mount back off and welded a nut to the back of the spacer plate, then boxed the plate to the bracket.
Finished rear mount.

For the front mount I made a paper template, then transfered that to 1/8" steel plate.
Made a couple bends on the brake, drilled the mounting holes, and welded the plate to the spacer plate on the urethane mount.
Since the car will have air I used the plasma cutter to open up the area around the compressor. I didn't butcher it as badly as it looks, I'll make a reinforced lower radiator support to go back in.
Test fit the bumper to check clearances.
Engine bolted in it's final position with the new mounts. There's plenty of firewall clearance for air filter and syncing the carbs with a flow gauge.
I'll be busy all day tomorrow but I'll try to make the lower radiator support on Wednesday and tear down the B6ze and B6t later this week.'88 L- B6d-Sidedraft Dellorto Carbs-G-Series-Advanced Suspension

I got the VW mostly finished about two weeks ago and and have been driving it the last week when it's not raining. You can see it in the background of a few of the pics from when I was making mounts for the Festiva. It'll be off to a new home soon.

Got a good start on the lower radiator support. The driver side is pretty much finished. The left plate over the bumper mount needs more trimming around the compressor but I'll wait until it's on the other car and I have the (smaller) Sanden compressor to finish trimming it. I also need to get a Civic radiator so I can make mounts for that.
I also found the flange measurements for a Honda F22 header to compare to the B6. I can't find a readily available B6d header but the measurements between the F22 and B6 are close enough that I should be able to buy a B6 flange and weld it onto the F22 header. I'll buy a cheap one off eBay to see if it'll work.

Making some great progress! I like the front trans mount, very low profile. I've got a pretty good motor mount and rear trans mount figured out, but I've never been 100% happy with my front trans mounts. I've tried to stick with the stock rubber part though, which takes up a lot more room.~Nate
