Making some great progress! I like the front trans mount, very low profile. I've got a pretty good motor mount and rear trans mount figured out, but I've never been 100% happy with my front trans mounts. I've tried to stick with the stock rubber part though, which takes up a lot more room.

Thanks Nate! I'm going to make jigs when I pull it back out so I can reproduce the mounts easily next time. I'd like to find a GL Sport and B6t swap it eventually so having jigs will make than an easy swap.

Glad you enjoyed them! Unfortunately with photobucket deciding that they want to charge $399 a year to host pictures off-site all of my past threads will have dead pic links from now on.

Yeah that's a drag. Are you sure about the $399 a year? When I used Photobucket a few years back to link to my CraigsList adds I was running I had their upgraded service for $24.99 a year. I considered it a fair price at the time. I did notice the dead links on the '40 Packard restoration. I admire your diverse taste in things automotive.

Yeah they just changed their terms of service and hiked the price on their top tier membership level. Only the top level will have the ability to post pictures off site. It's ridiculous. I was paying $2.99 a month the last few years.

Do you have them backed up locally? I would be glad to help you Archive them and re-upload to Imgur, etc. I hate to see dead links, and Mass-Archival of the Forum content is something Ben and I have been planning for a little bit now.

I haven't downloaded the PB pics yet. They're still on photobucket so they're not "lost" unless photobucket goes under, which is fairly likely now. My main issue is the thousands of posts I'd have to edit to replace the photobucket links. I have around 25 build threads on various forums with hundreds of pictures linked in each one. Some of them are very popular topics that get a lot of traffic and a few are in the top ten most viewed in their respective forum section. I also have a few 'how-to" topics that were very popular on the Chevy truck forum that I'll need to edit now.

Finished the passenger side of the rad support today. I'll wait until it's in the other car to figure out where to drill the holes since I don't have the Sanden compressor yet.




Also pulled the Miata motor out of storage and started disassembly. I need to make some mods to my engine stand before it'll mount to it.

You have to request Edit permission from a Mod/Admin, editing is disabled when the post 30 Min (iirc) old.

Bought another Capri last night. It was advertised as a XR2 with a 5 speed for $400. I offered $300 which he accepted, but it turned out to be a base with an auto once I got there to pick it up. I was dissapointed that it wasn't as advertised, so he offered to knock $100 off. I'm thinking I'll pull the B6d to swap into the Festiva with the 40mm Webers I already have, and build a hotter engine with 45 Dellortos later on.




I found a spun bearing and butchered keyway when I tore down the B6ze and haven't been able to find a good crank to replace it. So the Capri not being a XR2 wasn't a bad thing, I can use the B6d from it temporarily.

I'm almost finished with rebuilding the 40 DCOE's, just waiting on a few new parts to come in the mail. I'll put them on eBay and find a pair of 45 Dellorto's with around 37mm venturis instead since the 33mm venturis in the Webers will limit flow above 6000 rpm.






I've had some questions about rebuilding the Webers... it's not that difficult, just time consuming and there is a lot of cleaning. I dissasembled, then soaked the bodies and parts in a gallon can of carb cleaner, then glass bead blast the carb bodies. The brass parts are soaked in aluminum brightener acid to clean off any corrosion. I found a couple of vids on youtube that show the reassembly well.
