Your .035 welder isn't going to push. 023 without a different roller and I've never seen flux core that small not that they dont make it ..I run .030 my roller has 2 sides grouved .030 for flux and .025 smooth for solid wire.

Why not run full exhaust? Or at least exhaust under the car? Tooo cool for school? What is it? I've been given an exhaust ticket before don't need another. And I was only running open downpipe under the car.

Holes in fenders r easy to fix. Buy a new fender.

Well i have a giant hole in the fender. This time im making the pipe. Gonna try my best to make it look good to. I had the welders at work give me some pointers. Im gonna grab some .023 wire tonight. I picked up some tip gel last night. I will have to get some .023 tips as well.

Last night i played with some scrap pipe i had laying around. I was easily able to weld it together. The pipe was not cut very good so i think i did ok with what i was working with. Im going to have my exhaust shop give me some scrap pipe tonight. I will stick a few of them together before i go messing up my good stuff.

The exhaust is going right out of the fender again! It will only be 2 short elbows and about 1.5 foot of straight pipe.

I might add in one vband clamp. It would make getting the pipe in and out much easier. If i make a flex section i would make to make a mount.

I will get some time to work on the car tonight. The new turbo flange is in. At lunch time today i think i will head to an exhaust shop and try to find some good pipe to work with. I went down to 2.5"

I think i might weld in a short glass pack just to take the edge off the exhaust. With it being a straight pipe and all anything will help.

I will just drill holes and use grade 8 hardware. I might get the bolts in place and snug them up then tack them in place. Either way itll work just fine. Plenty of room to get in there and do what i need.

Looks great. That Festiva sheet metal is not easy to weld, takes patience.
I'm sorry I didn't suggest this before Mike, but I drilled the holes in everything first so I could weld nuts on the back side of the plates. I then bolted it all together, finish trimmed it and welded it on, all bolted together. Maybe you can make some weld in inserts to go in your plates.

I went ahead and bought a new turbo downpipe flange. Im going to remake the exhaust in 2.5" OD pipe. The adapter flange i bought makes the exhaust run way to close to the water hose. Plus i messed the exhaust up pretty bad with some junk welds. Parts should be in by the weekend. I might find time to get to it.

We did make a couple holes but was easily able to refill them and weld over with no issues. William did a nice job. He dove 1.5 hours and brought his own welder. I owe him! It was good to hang out with another Festiva Fan like myself!

Tonight im tied up getting the brakes redone on my truck. Ill only have time to make the holes on the support bar! Later this week i hope to really get some work done on Lucifer.

    Looks good.
The metal was thin in spots. One of the plates i cut was cut to small. It made the weld at the top of the plate miss the frame rail. The angle iron in the back makes up for it tho. So if you cut wrong at all its a pain to weld. We used a flux core welder and it did just fine! Im more then happy with it. Its amazing the amount of flex we took out of the area with this mod. I cant wait to drive it now.
