Small update. I picked up an oem spoiler from a member on here this weekend and I'm pretty stoked about that. I'm also talking to a friend of mine about picking up a silver 88. Even though mine was painted and it looks a lot better, it was still abused pretty bad by previous owners. I priced a windshield at $250 installed by safelite but the silver one is only $500. If I look at it and it's in better cosmetic shape, I'll probably buy it, swap my suspension over and sell mine.

Other than that, I'm trying in my free time to find a machine shop to measure my crank and deck my cylinder head. Unfortunately there's none in my small town so I have to drive about an hour and a half. Once I do that though, it's full steam ahead on the swap. I'll also be dropping the valve cover off tomorrow for powdercoating.

    I guess they're thrust bearings.

After looking at the internals, it looks like there was a spun rod bearing. Good thing I'll be swapping all of those parts out.

Did a little bit today. I got my spare bottom end torn apart and checked to make sure my new crank was a good fit. Theres some shims on the 3rd main bearing that I've never seen before. Pretty neat deal.

The clearance was one of the more difficult things I had to figure out. Static, I should have about half an inch of clearance. In the next few weeks I'm going to pull my motor and dry fit the motor with the carbs and filters. If i have to, I will make some modifications to the firewall but hopefully that won't be needed. As for the balancing tool, I haven't even made it that far yet. I do know that the carb tuning will be a PITA because I have to tune the car to perform at 0' and 5200' above sea level and they also have to be able to handle a g of lateral force which carbs don't like so much. I thought about adding a wideband for each cylinder but thats too much. Instead i will be tuning with a tool ajd running one wideband. Maybe two.

Are you sure there will be enough room between the air cleaners and the firewall with the engine torquing?
That was my main consideration when I decided on downdraft twins.
Make sure you have a good carb balancing tool to use on each of your venturis.
Once the air flow and gas are all the same at the high end, you will have no problem getting instant response when you floor it.

Should make a good hauler for you.
I'm glad to see your still at despite setbacks that were out of your control. The side carb setup is going to look crazy cool!!
Thank you. I went thru a lot of options before deciding on the f-150 but I'm glad I did. I got it for a reasonable price too. My other option was a toyota but in this area they go for a arm and a leg.

The carb set is coming together pretty quickly. I just got my slip filters in today. I mounted them but I didn't get pictures. They are a little bit too close. So close that they're touching eachother. I can live with that though.

In other news, I'm waiting for a miata big nose crank to come in so I can rebuild my bottom end. This is the only way I could switch to the ribbed pulleys. I know it sounds like a lot of work just to use ribbed pulleys but that's what I want. I'm thinking about running the motor I have with the v pulleys until I get the spare bottom end rebuilt but I don't know yet. I'll take a good look at everything this weekend and decide. Autox practice starts in Feb and the first event is in Mar. I'd like to have it on the road by the first event but that's pushing it.

So with the swap coming up I decided it was time for a better daily. I wanted something I could tow the festiva with and it had to have a back seat for my son. Here's what I ended up with.

It's been a pretty great truck so far but boy do I miss the festivas fuel economy. I was spending $13 a week for my weekly work commute but now its up to over $25. It's a sacrifice that needs to be made though. The b3 just doesn't make enough heat to be comfortable in the winter.

I also grabbed myself a little bit of interior goodness to make up for the hole left in my heart with the Junspeed nonsense.

Since I wasn't too happy with the top mount, I decided to make up a bottom mount for the linkage. Now all I have to do is make sure it'll clear the alternator. Will post pics soon.

    Thank you

I got my spacers and linkage for the carbs today. Everything looks pretty good but I feel like I should have gone with a bottom mount linkage so the carbs weren't covered as much.

Quite a few people are running b3 distributors on their b6d engines.
I'll have to look at a picture to see what you mean by shave a little off the retaining cap. I do need to start planning the dizzy work soon. As well as the vacuum manifold for brake booster, distributor advance and whatever else I may need.
