I asked this in the quick ratio rack thread in the suspension section. Should be able to find an answer there.

I'm looking to do some work while I have the engine out. I want to replace my steering rack and bushings, control arms and the radiator. I was looking at the festiva store and they have this advertised for the 90-93.

Is there any reason I can't use this rack? The other option I have is a depowered aspire power steerign rack but I haven't looked into the details yet. I wouldn't mind having a tighter ratio since in autox, steering is critical.

Thanks guys. Thats kind of what I'm thinking. A line in from the vc, a line out to the manifold and a breather of some sort.

    This is getting good!
I'd vent the catch can to atmosphere. Sometimes it gets messy if you vent it to vacuum with carbs like that. The vacuum will spike under heavy decel and could suck oil right out of your crank vent.
I routed a vent pipe out the fender on my b6t car and that works well.

The engine bay cleaned up nice. It'll be cool seeing a dual carbed engine once in place!

I got the old motor pulled a little while ago. That was fun. As soon as I got it out I sprayed and scrubbed the bay. She was filthy. I'm about 75% done with the cleaning but since I'm tired, it's time for a break. I still need to look into what sensors need to be kept and what I can do away with. Here's the pics.

Since I plan on destroying cones with the car, I think I might also add an abs splitter so the autoxing doesn't destroy the lip. With my side skirts, rear mud flaps, the front lip and the spoiler I haven't installed, I think I'm done with exterior work for a while. In the future I want to get a passenger mirror and lower spoiler. I might also make a quad hella headlight setup thats one piece with the grill.

I got my cylinder head back from the machinist today. Fresh skimmed and cleaned. All I need now is the crank key and my cometic head gasket. I also ordered myself a little part from ernst pride. I really wanted a front lip so I asked him for one of these.

I dropped the head off today for clean and skim. I should have it and the VC back by Monday. I think I'll have the long block assembled by then. I still need to fit the distributor and rebuild the carbs. I also need to skim the flywheel from my old motor but I have to actually pull it first.

I'm looking at vacuum manifold options for my carb setup. I found a cheap manifold with 2 large ports and 6 small ports. 4 of the 6 small ports will go to each of the runners, 1 large will go to the brake booster and now I'm stuck on what to do with the dizzy. I know there's 2 ports on mine but I'm not sure if both go to the same place. I'll have to look at it later. I also need to figure out if I can use the other large port for a catch can off of the vc. maybe go from the vc to the catch can then it will be drawn into the runners from there. Either way, I need to start figuring this out soon.

I wouldn't worry about the hone so much then just clean up the rings and bore well

What's wrong with the cross hatching? Be careful you dont take off too much material. .001 bigger hole (.0005) on each side will increase ring gap by .00314. I do admire your drive. Keep us posted! And my previous post should have read : now you should have peace of mind.
