If you cant find replacement defroster vents with new seals I would assume you could just add some of the Foam Window Insulation with for a makeshift seal, I would probably add a little extra adhesive to the backing though.
That's a good idea thanks

My duct tape dash actually blocked off all of the side vents so I deleted them just gonna run defrosters and center vents but thanks for the tip how do you clean the blower? Also do you know where to get replacement defroster vents and the foam seals

Replacement vents at your local wrecker
Foam seals at a hardware store. See what thickness and width you need.
To clean the blower remove it and blow it off with compressed air. That gets most of it off. If you want more off remove the plastic blade and wash it in warm soapy water and use a sprayer, brake cleaner or oven cleaner to get the rest off.
The biggest problem with the vents is they're super brittle (at least in my experience).
Yeah my defrosters broke a little

Solid defrost vents are unobtanium here. I beg the guys up in the PNW to send me the vents from their parts cars. That's the only place I've found solid ones.
To clean your blower fan, unplug it and remove the three screws that hold it in. I guess it's possible with the dash in place, but it's way easier without all that crap in your way.
Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

Thats a clean fan!
Whats the issue with the defrost vents? The sun makes them brittle? I their fine on the car im working on and im sure they were good still on my car with 460k km.

Coolant system finished
Exhaust system finished
Interior still apart
I gotta make a besel for the
Fog
Light bar
And vics (yes I'm hooking up a manual switch)
Then I have to make a new besel for the climate controls as I'm relocating them more to the right for a double din touchscreen head unit
Wire in all those switches
Wire in my underglow
Reinstall dash
Go for a nice test drive an get her inspected

I'm running with the stock E series transmission.
Ian
Hey Ian, does the G transmission have a lower 5th gear then the stock E trans? It seems like the XR2 donar car was geared quite a bit lower then the '93 Festiva 5 speed. The Festy is a L model without a tach so I can't be sure if there is a difference. Saw this on eBay, has anyone used this set up" Sorry for hijacking Festiver's build.....Nice work BTW! http://www.ebay.com/itm/230943633816...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
'88 Festiva LX 5 speed, A/C, Carb, restored $$$ body paint, badly wrecked @ 200k.
'93 Festiva L, 5 speed, Aqua, bought from the original owner,.Zero rust but very nasty otherwise. Awaits the B6T.
'91 Festiva L, 5 speed, bought to drive while putting the B6T in the '93. now B6ME powered.

No. Xr2's turn way higher rpm on the highway. Festiva diff ratio is 3.77 vs 3.85 for the xr2, not much different but the xr2 fifth gear is not as tall.
Festiva runs about 2300 at 55 vs 2800 for the xr2 or about 3500 at 70.
The solution is a 5th gear swap from the non turbo 2.2 Mazdas and Probes. Drops highway rpms to basically the same as a festiva.

Thanks bhazard, just one more thing for me to do before the swap. Twistys are fun but being in New Mexico there are lots of far away places where 80+ mph cruising is the norm. I drove the XR2 out here from Chicago and although I am sure the B6T is not working hard @3,500 rpms I don't see any reason to gear it so low, especially in a 900 lb (maybe 1,000 lb, the XR2 had a hardtop) lighter Festiva. I guess that's why we swap in the B6T's right? Also, I have not figured out how to add my vehicles to the lower portion of my postings? huhuhh Thanks in advance.
