Just to clarify, I will swear by Cometic head gaskets. I don't recall ever fitting one with a head I had not trued-up, even though that might have been 5 builds before. I routinely top a block the first time I use it so all my deck hights are the same. Having said that, I have on several occasions at customer request fitted a modified head to a good bottom end and have had no failures. Three of these are still pounding the tracks locally.
I have given up on all other head gaskets.

        thanks!

My good friend is going to true the head, and check the block for me, and I'm going to give it a try

What kind of wheels are those on your brothers Festiva, Advancedynamix?

The miata pistons are 9.4:1? What are the b6d pistons? I wonder if thats where the miata makes that little bit more power over the b6d. Very interesting as I have a set of miata 1.6 pistons sitting right next to the motor I'm about to build

B6d and b6ze are pretty much the same internally. B6d is 9.4:1 in a manual trans capri and 9:1 in an auto, just like the miata. The miata makes slightly more HP due to its better intake manifold and slightly different fuel and ignition tuning to compliment the manifold.

Interesting. Is there an easy way to tell the difference in the pistons?

I just want the exact same setup i have in my miata, in the festiva. Miata guys run 9.4-1 all day long

i find the b6t to be a bit of a dog and i believe the compression ratio has much to do with it, just felt anemic.

High compression turbo engines are mandatory in my opinion, best of both worlds.

9.4-1 is pretty low still no?

No, 7.8 is low. Most turbo engines are in the low to mid 8s. That extra full point of compression makes a huge difference off boost. Tune with 10+:1 and things start getting really exciting. Add to that, you don't need as much boost to make the same power.
