  • Got kicked out of the track

My rear suspension sags like pregnant cows udder. The car also sways side to side, it looks like the festy is rwd and is going to lift the front wheels. I went to the jy to get an aspire swap bar because they said they had an aspire but they didn't

Thing is that last time I was all over the track and I got 2nd place but this time I was driving straighter and got called out for it. It's for the best and I got credit to run next time for free.

I got two runs in and got the same times as last time. 60' still 2.6 and e.t still 16.1. At least i'm consistent.

Time to save up for coilovers.

It looks like my festiva is going to drag it's as.

WOW your alignment is WAY out... i can see it in the vid lol.... im pulling a 2.4 60' time and mine is just wheel spin and smoke... and im on street tires... lower it on some ebay coilovers and aspire struts for some extra dampening (or if you want even more 323 or the other car that im forgetting about right now lol....) and your 60' will drop big time... and your 1/4 mile time will drop even lower...

but good runs so far, the more you do the faster it will get

I only got two runs in so I didn't get to test which rpm was best to launch at. The last run I launched at 2.5k and had zero wheel spin, i'm going to try higher next time.

I just got an alignment done The rear is in spec and the front has a little negative camber. I watched the video again and I think it looks like that because there is no load on the front and the suspension stretches all the way out.

i launch at WOT at 4000 rpm (launch controll FTW!!! ) and i slip the clutch for about half a second and let it bounce off the 2 step untill the clutch locks and the wheels are just about to grip then let off the 2 step and then let it fly to 7000 rpm, shift and bring it to 7000 rpm again

I'm doing something really wrong then... My clutch was slipping but I fixed it now and I still ran the same. The car runs and feels good, i'm going to ask fastivab6t to test drive my car and see if it's pulling like it should.

It feels like my turbo comes on at 4000 rpms and anywhere else below that it feels less responsive then my 100hp 3,000 pound Jetta. On the freeway too, 5th and gear feels the same as my Jetta. Is this normal for a b6t?

noooooo...... a stock b6t should have full boost at like 2700~2800 rpm and pull HARD... my 323 gt 4DOOR pulls harder than my bp festiva... but its got a bit of work done to it, not a ton, but enough to make it quick.... it sounds like your turbo is ****ed.... or have a big boost leak....

I don't know how to tell but all the piping is snug. If it's like a vacuum leak it would show up as nox on my smog test. Air filter is new too.

How do I check for boost leaks and if the turbo is good?( I'm guess get a boost gauge?) If my turbo was bad would it be burning oil? I have 145-150 compression on all cylinders without putting in oil.

If it's the turbo it gives me a reason to put on the vj 11/14 hybrid I got

Holy crow... you really do need some beefier suspension. The Aspire beam won't help a ton directly with your launch... it really has more to do with your vertical components. If you can't find an Aspire to swap out of, you can just either weld in some angle iron as has been done here before and or do the threaded beam swap that sasquatch, leapin, and I all have in our cars.

Honestly, the Raceland VW Coilovers would probably be the best bang for your buck in this situation. Street ride might be rough, but it would be firmer than any DIY coilover/junkyard contraption. But the alternatives to that would be:

                        Front Shocks: Aspire, 1986-1989 323, 2001-2002 Kia Rio, 1988-1991 Camry V6
Rear Shocks: Aspire, 1993-2002 Mirage, 1996-1999 Maxima
Coilovers: Pretty straightforward. Do them like Nate and I have.

I just found out about the racelands and i'm going to save up for the stiffer rokkor ones. It will never be a daily driver so i'm fine with the harsh ride.

Ah perfect... go for it. Yeah if your priority is straight line weekend warrior than definitely save for the Rokkor ones. They should work out great for you... if your tires are sticky enough and your bushings aren't rotten, I bet you'll see a huge improvement in your times.

As for your boost leaks, please read the following two links very carefully:

Evo Engine / Turbo / Drivetrain - The reason you MUST do a "boost leak test"!! Don't pass go. Read this. - I know, as long as I have been surfing this site, I see the Boost leak tester threads all over, and I say whatever , I dont hear any leaks, and I know the clamps are tight, so I don't need to...

Of course, with the stock VJ14 for now, you'll want to adjust your pipe size accordingly when you make the boost leak tester. Last I checked, the compressor inlet on those VJ14's was a buck 75... so ensure you get some hosing that'll cover 1.75" for you.

Thanks for the links, I will be doing this asap.

I have no background knowledge of anything that goes wrong with my car, everything is new to me.
