yup.. see what I mean about the tie rod end? It's like a adapter or something.... does it look to be a SHO tire rod end with a thred adapter on the end sizing down to a Festi Rack?

Its looks like a shortened taurus tie rod end. They may have cut it to festiva length and put a helicoil in it to bring it down to the festiva smaller tir rod diameter.

      SHO

      Festiva

The aspire tie rod has a little large tapered shaft were it goes into the spindle but screws onto the Festiva tie rod itself.

I was afraid to use the helicoil method but Im sure it would work. I just used the aspire tie rod with a taper bushing. In hind site since I was making a bushing I could have just used the cheaper Festiva tie rod.

It looks like he has 5-bolt wheels on there, but the car looks like it still only has the 4-bolt posts.

Found lots of links for them but most showed a generic picture. It would be possible to get a set of universal camber plates and cut them to the sahpe / bolt spacing of the festiva factory mount (?)

I'm guessing that caster is not an ishue on Festi's sence they went with camber plates only? I'm not that up on this part of a setup so please any one chime in? I did find this nice set of plates, but they look to be a bit much in the way of adjustment for a street car... Nice for setting up a street / and race setup with out re-doing your allignment....

I think they layed a stock festiva strut bushing on top and cut it out to fit .

I noticed some markings on the spring

8/90.... that would be close to the car build date (?) It was based on a 1991 Festiva correct?

It's a 90 model by VIN and old Ebay listing.... I talked to MOOG today and got all of the demensions of the Festi and SHO tie rods.... nothing out of the Billions of parts they make matched up, so they must have "invented" the part...

                        FYI

Festiva Outer tie rod thred female Metric 12 x 1.25

SHO outer Tie Rod end taper .525 (MIN)
.626 ( MAX) ( TAPER RATE) 2 inches per foot.

Yet again more worthless info provided by me I'm getting good at finding the facts out, then deciding that the way they did it was .... um well less then what I expected from a bunch of Ford Engineers.

I'm thinking about eather reaming out the spindle to a size I can work with, or working on the inner tie rod.... Using the Festi one is probably fine, but thoughts of running large rubber, and a large wheel on a smalish rod makes me wonder about making the conversion at the Rack end of things, and get a larger bar for it... less bumpy bump if you know what I mean... Thats Fridays mision... see if I can get that info!
