  • Possible [FS] Flanges/Headers/Custom CNC Parts?

I have recently been approached by a CNC shop (they normally do tooling for injection molding operations) with excess capacity. They've agreed to give me access to their machine shop (most notably their CNC) so that I can design program and run my own parts. This is mostly a feasibility study for me while the shop and I feel out our arrangement. I'm interested in designing some "niche" pieces that have a little marketability, and my thoughts immediately drifted to my Festiva. I can design, mock up and test fit just about anything, or if I can't (if say you wanted a BP turbo manifold and I don't have a BP to put it on) I would definitely be willing to work something out with a willing forum member who would test it and if they wanted, could keep the part at absolute cost with total disregard for any of my time or labor, or something else that is mutually agreeable, possibly with a further discount to the point of being free, depending on their degree of involvement.

So my question to the community is this - what do Festiva owners need? I know FMS makes some parts, and I don't have any criticism of them or their operation, but I know I've seen people saying "I wish FMS made..." or "If FMS made ---- I'd definitely be in line for one," so what ARE those parts? Are there swap-related parts you need? Is there something available that currently seems too expensive and you wish someone had a less expensive alternative? Would you be interested in a "weld it yourself" header kit that came with flanges and pre-bent tubing? Just a decent set of non-rusting headers?

Please respond with specific info if at all possible (i.e., "I really wish someone made a B6 header that cleared my H-brace and had a 2.5-inch outlet" means more than "I want a header"). If I could get a few people to agree on demand for a certain part I can run the numbers and hopefully make something happen for members. I'll keep a running list of concrete demands and positive votes at the bottom of this post so that requests will be preserved and I can have a tally of interested parties. Thanks ahead of time for your feedback, I hope I can help out some other Festiva owners!

I'd like to have a b8-me header since sydney is the only place that makes them.. I know I'd also like a flange for an itb setup for the same motor platform. Strut bars would be nice since FMS doesn't make them anymore. Maybe somesort of rear chassis brace bar that goes across the c pillars or between the seats. maybe some premade universal seat brackets bent to axcept aftermarket seats instead of using angle iron. I'd like to see a mount set for the BP/G series trans swap. Instead of using a trans mount from a b8 protege and some more angle iron for a no weld motor mount.

The sky is the limit other people can think of more things.

I think a big demand is a set of mounts for the G-series transmission. Or an adapter to use a mount already on the market. Also there are some people who want rear disc brakes on their car, which would require an adapter bracket and cut down drum or an adapter to mount the rotor.

I have one. It connects the top of both shock towers. There was a member on the forum who used to make them, but i don't even know if he is around anymore. There was not much demand for them back when he was making them. I can get pictures of it if anybody is interested. It is not some thing you need a CNC machine for.

Could you get me some pics of the bar? The shop has more than just a CNC so maybe if there's demand for this I could have a few done, the CNC could at least make the mounting plates nice and clean.

A G25MR tranny mount would be great. I can't have my BP blow apart another stock tranny...

I think the G series mounts are the most desired. I would want a set of those mounts just for the fact I dont have the skills nor know anyonr with the skills to weld me some mounts to put on it.
